Power been off, now on again. Isn't this nice - taken from BBC news page:
Meanwhile, in Orkney, a bakery on Westray has offered to make its industrial ovens available for cooking turkeys for anyone on the island who finds themselves without electricity while trying to make Christmas dinner.
Brown's Bakers has its own generators - which can be used to power the ovens.
Louise Drever, who runs the business with her husband Duncan, said they could potentially cook up to about 60 turkeys at one time.0 -
Mar how generous & sensible to offer help in what may be a very difficult Christmas weekend.
The edge of Storm Babs has hit Blackpool, we have wind going along our road south to north, which is a very unusual direction. At least it's not off the sea from the west, which is the back of the house.
Dinosaur cake baking, last minute trip to bank done, DH is wrapping & labelling his packs of truffles (only 275 this time, he made 600+ for DS's wedding!), cat has been chucked out before the rain came and then was thoroughly worn out by playing with her ball on a string and a catnip fish. She gets really skittish in strong winds, and is now flaked out on her fleecy bed under the radiator, all feet together towards the heat, snoring!
I really need to do some ironing so I can pack, then finish off the dinosaur cake ready for delivery. I've got presents to wrap too, including DH's which I will do while he irons his party shirts & checks his kilt2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

We're about to brave Glenshee:eek: I'm driving. We have snow chains and Salopettes, and emergency rations. Wish us luck:D
Hope you survive WCS and you keep your power.
In case we get stranded, have a great Christmas everyone.:TGoals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -

Wild here but boat safely moored and crew home safe. Power on and off but we can cook over the fire if need be. Looks like there'll be a lull tomorrow, then back with force the day after so going to cook christmas dinner tomorrow if possible.
Merry Christmas everyone!!0 -
Calmer here now, not sure if it's finished because they said it would be worse tonight. Maybe they got it wrong again lol. But was wild while it lasted. Must be a lot of flooding here as rain was really intense.0

Soy sauce is nice, will try that one ty. Ivy sorry about your tummy - did they ever say what it was?
Thanks mar - I'm producing too much acid in my stomach apparently.
Had a nice couple of days away, seeing family we don't see very often including brother and sis-in-law over from Germany for Christmas, and OH's nice cousins(I don't mean "as opposed to nasty cousins", just that his cousins are nice
) It's good to be home though.
ETA Been catching up on the thread in between doing other things. I really missed you all! Thank you for making me laugh, well done on the marmalade and baking! and I'm thinking of those of you in Scotland and the North in the horrible weather ((HUGS)) It's gusty enough even here to blow the wheelie bins over, and we're in London area!
Before I forget to tell you, Brother and sis-in-law gave niece and family an "Alexa" for Christmas. They got it set up, then SIL said "Alexa - who is my favourite son-in-law?"
"Alexa's" reply was "I don't know - but I'm sure you have very good taste."0 -
My goodness. It seems wild in the north. We have strong winds here but nothing too extraordinary. We hope the ferries don't stop tonight or tomorrow as all our visitors are arriving.
The festive spirit is a bit bemused round here. Last night DiL's 25 year old son rang her to let her know what time he will be arriving today and casually dropped into the conversation that he is now a vegan and will only be eating fruit and vegetables over the weekend. That went down well I can tell you!
Our very good friends up the road called in last night and we discovered that the husband would be working on Christmas day and mum and the 3 children would be at home on their own.
Guess what? There will now be 14 of us here on Christmas morning. 5 children and 9 adults. Thank goodness I made another 6 dozen mince pies yesterday - that's 12 dozen since the beginning of December.
I am pleased to report that the Clementine and Cointreau marmalade that I was so disgusted with has paid for leaving a couple of days. I tried it this morning and it was absolutely delicious. I'll make some more before clementines disappear from the shelves again.
Just one more child's mitten to knit and a few last minute presents to wrap and I can hang up my spurs for another year.
Thinking of our friends in the north and hoping that you manage to keep warm, safe and well fed.

Ridiculously easy trip up. Some heavy rain, but nothing major. Let's hope the next instalment isn't too bad.Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0

It's been a very blustery day here as Winnie the Pooh would say. Cat has been alternately dashing around like a mad thing or flaked out on her bed with paws on the radiator!
All my presents are wrapped, bags for delivery tomorrow are ready, still not ironed or packed case but have been assembling outfits through the week so just need to fold & add undies, hair tools & makeup tomorrow.
Am annoyed with DH today...he did some brewing & wine making stuff a couple of weeks ago and the stuff is STILL all out. He has also left his birthday gifts from 9 days ago on a chair in the lounge, and left scraps of ribbon & label backings all over the dining room floor from packing his truffles today. I just told him I was going to wrap his present then go in the bath, an would he do tea. Apparently he will "see where he is up to on his list" :mad:2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
