Who are all these yummy things for, Hester? Who are the lucky 180?
You're very brave, I get anxious just baking something for a cake stall!
And WCS So sorry your baking day isn't going well0 -

Fingers crossed. Mine's still in the oven. The pumpkin brownies are suitable only for disguising with custard. Fingers crossed the pumpkin bread works. (Random tin that needed using, but needs to be suitable for public consumption. Tomorrow.):DGoals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -
I do love cake and custard... made it often. LOL!0

Isn't it just typical? 101 times you dash something off in a rush for the family and it is just perfect. The 102nd time you make the same thing for someone else or a cake stall or a special occasion and it sinks, burns round the edges, is thin on one side and thick on the other and anyway has the taste and texture of a brick.
It's just the way life is.
Good luck tomorrow Hester. They are lucky to have you.

As it will be my last birthday at work I'm making enough for all the staff.
Hence the mad baking session, I was interrupted by dd1 with her 4 children, but it was lovely to see them, then my L&M decided to take me to the carvery for lunch. I now have 2 tea breads in the oven and various other items half made.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Some people have strange ways of celebrating their birthdays.
Aren't people supposed to treat YOU on your birthday?
What is happening? Have you decided to retire?
You don't have to answer that. It's really none of my business.

I invited a friend for lunch so I could cook my first meal in my new kitchen-not finished by a long chalk ,but all electrical goods are usable.
Worked well, roast chicken and all the veg, followed by blackberry and apple crumble-roast potatoes to die for, haven't made ones like that for years!!
Have got one of those sooper dooper door hiding away ovens that need me to stand there with the instruction book and my tongue between my teeth-another challenge.
HOWEVER I sat down after friend had gone and all tidy, then remembered the bread rising-oh heck, seriously over proved. Anyway it has been baked,be interesting to see how many air holes there are and where to spread the butter-huh.

Monna I am being forced to retire by my eyesight problems. I will not be able to see well enough to work my machinery by this time next year.
I'm not sure when I will retire but it will be before next November.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
So sorry Hester. I was hoping against hope that your financial situation had improved substantially and you had no need to go on working.
I'd no idea of the real problem.
I now know for a fact that your guardian Angel drinks too.
Hugs.

Aw Hester really sorry to hear that - I know the job hasn't suited you for long enough but it would've been nice to be able to leave when you wanted not when you needed. Keeping everything crossed that next year goes well for you xxx
