When we started playing I-spy with Pickle she was 2, and we had to use colours......"I spy with my little eye something beginning with 'pink'."
Hester: I don't think there were digital clocks when my two were children. My ex was a bit of a clock obsessive and we had lots of them all over the house, (much more rewarding to buy another antique clock than children's shoes) and by the age of 6 both boys could tell the time perfectly. As far as I know no-one ever taught them must have been a process of osmosis.
We had the children's Village Chistmas Fair this morning. I provided the nursery school with 4 of my Christmas stockings. They didn't even make it on to the tables and I find myself promised to knit as many more as I have time for. I have also promised a hat and scarf for a 14 year old boy and a baby blanket for a friend.
I see that from now till Christmas I will be chained to my rocking chair.
It beats housework hands down.

We used to play I spy with colours too.
I'm baking tomorrow, mince pies, cheese palms, cheesecakes, fruit loaves, choc chip cookies, tray bakes & Mocha squares, a recipe posted for me by Snoozer.
I need to provide enough for 180 people so I may buy some too otherwise I'll never get out of the kitchen.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Hester that reminds me of the time we were playing "I spy" with our DDs when the younger one was just 4. It was her turn and she said "I spy with my little eye, something beginning with B". We tried for ages and couldn't guess, and in the end we said "We give up! What is it?"
"BATATOES!" she shrieked triumphantly.
LOL
When we played with DD on a walk she said the letter was W.
The word was WABBIT :rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Monna - hope you and yours are all OK with Angus roaring about xxSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Silva: thanks. It was a bit hairy last night but I have known worse. No roof tiles on the ground this morning but the garden looks as though someone has picked it up and shaken it.
DS was a bit morose this morning as he spent most of last week clearing leaves and getting rid of them. His clients will be looking out of their windows and wondering what they have paid him for.
We are on the easternmost tip of the Island so get the brunt of any weather.
Lazy day today but I must try to return my room to some semblance of order. At the moment it looks as if the storm was raging INSIDE.
If JackieO is reading I bet she is glad that it is next weekend she is coming over here, not this one.

Having a nightmare day - baking for a forthcoming coffee morning, and to keep youngest fed whilst i'm away - put plain flour in the banana loaves and they're like bricks, and put peppermint essence instead of almond in the bakewell!! bread not rising either - been making these same things for 40 years and never done this before!!!! bah humbug :-)0 -
I have days like that and now I've learned just to give up. Read a good book instread. I used to get really angry about it and keep going, but it never ended well
