I let my 11yo DGS borrow my Kindle, when he returned it there was a Roald Dahl book added, he was very apologetic, he's clicked on it to look at it and hadn't realised that we use 1 click on Amazon for Kindle books.
It was just under £2 so not a problem and he won't do it again now he knows.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Good heavens, monnagran  that child is too bright for her own good
OH has been going through the stuff in boxes under the stairs that he hadn't already looked at. He found, in a cardboard box, all the net curtains from our last married quarter in Germany!
They still have their curtain hooks in them as there evidently wasn't time to wash them before packing. They include the pretty Willow Pattern ones I bought for the French windows. We didn't live there that long; all the curtains are only about a year old, so I shall wash them and see if any will be any use to DGS1 and his fiancee, who are moving into their first home together next month, to give them some privacy as a temporary measure.
(Well, they're not a year old, they are about 35 years old, but were only in use for a year, and as they are synthetic fabric they still look fine.)0 -
I've had a very peculiar day. On the Ratty scale it was about 11 out of 10. So somehow, and I dono how this happened
... I et my daughter's xmas chocs. I am even now twitching at the though of my DIL's chocs that are still un-et. Andd I seem to have treated meself to £25 worth of wool. I never ever spend that much money on wool. I wonder if I'm having a brainstorm. If I am, I'M BLOODY WELL ENJOYING IT

Mar may as well eat them - you cannae give to one and not the other can you??? Hope the wool was to knit something for yourself?
I've had a pants weekend so sat the last hour with my jigsaw - my hands don't appear to want to do anything else just now, except ache.0 -
I haven't done anything productive either WCS. Bit of a wasted weekend really. I have read a lot of Sherlock Holmes and some Fu Manchu as well
Yes the wool is for me - I've knitted tons of socks for xmas pressies as well as hitchikers and now this is for me. Just a quick easy waistcoat for going through that cold back kitchen. It's this pattern:

Oh that's nice - I have something similar to put on and off inside over the day - really useful!0

Mar that's very nice. I like a waistcoat to put on in the kitchen no extra sleeves to push up.
Pitty I can't keep all the money that claims to have come into my bank account overnight. I have earned over $200,000 overnight and won £5000 on the lottery. Pitty it's all in spam. Don't know what lottery I didn't look but as it was in £s it was at least British. Do people really believe all this stuff.0 -

I can understand why some people do - after all they have it in writing that they have and therefore they assume the law is such that they means they HAVE to be paid it by the firm/person promising it. But...yep....read enough articles to know that it's not so:(
I've come to the conclusion there are basically two ways to get money:
- earn it from jobs
OR
- be pretty financially astute and keep an eye on what opportunities society generally comes up with for being "ahead of the crowd" and using that knowledge to *earn* some money.
Those are the only ways I've ever been able to get money basically personally.0 -
Nursemaggie I do sometimes worry that when I have actually won copious amounts of money I won't get it because I'll have deleted it as spam :rotfl:
Mardatha, you needed a bit of a splurge, lean in! As for kids not calling, I'm probably an offending party. From my perspective, I get home after 6, sort out a few chores, generally have to wedge thephone under my ear whilst making dinner... it's not easy and not always pleasant. And sometimes there's not much to say, so it feels like a bit of a chore.
Monnagran, blaming pickle for the unicorn necklace when we all know it's on your wish list is a bit rich
Hester, solicitors are a peculiar breed that seem to only work when prodded. Best of luck there.
I'm flat out. Looks like my 1-3 days a week is turning into full time in January . Always seems to work this way for me once my foot is in the door. We'd thrash the mortgage then. Anyhoo, will know more soon.
Love to all xxSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Would you be ok with full time, Softstuff? I hope things work out just right for you :T
mardatha that waistcoat is really nice! And I agree with WCS, you may as well eat DIL's chocs as well!
WCS So sorry about your poor hands, sending very gentle (hugs)).
DS had to get up early for work today, so i went to the loo when he got up, then went back to bed. Woke at 7.50, was thinking i should get up, then all of a sudden it was 9.30. It's now 10.35 and OH, who goes to bed and gets up much alter than I usually do, is still asleep. A strange morning! It's wet and gloomy outside, so perhaps that's why.0
