Am fit to kill here, I'm having stupid conversations with stupid people with regards financial shenanigans.
I'm very worried about my lovely friend who is having surgery for lung cancer on my birthday.
The story that is being read on the radio is about a living on a narrowboat, so there is nothing scandalous to upset the patients, lol.
I told my beloved L&M about the story as I was so excited, his very underwhelmed reply was 'You've never lived on a narrowboat' erm, that's why it is a story. He reads a lot of fiction but doesn't seem to grasp that it's what I writeChin up, Titus out.0 -
Hester: MEN! I think it's wonderful that your writing is reaching an audience. You should be very proud.
As for finances..............You will never get a solicitor to feel the same sort of urgency to get on with things that you feel. It beats me that they can charge the sort of money that brings tears to the eyes and then work as though every day is a Friday afternoon.
I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I have lost too many friends, far too young to the dreaded cancer. You must be worried but try to enjoy your birthday anyway. Your friend would never want to spoil your special day.
Well, the funeral went well. Most people turned up in dark clothes but my pink went down well and someone in a red coat and another in purple gave me the thumbs up.
The place was packed which is incredible for a man over a hundred. Most of his family and friends had predeceased him but still there must have been about 70 people there.
I have been to too many funerals where there was just me, the solicitor and the matron of the nursing home to bid someone farewell. In fact in one church we formed a sort of ' funeral rent-a-mob' for these sorts of occasions. The funeral directors were very tickled.
I see that the cold weather is forecast for the end of the week. I must drag my winter clothes out and see what still fits.

Huggs Hester. I don't think it is just solicitors that are slow with money Civil Servants and Local Authorities are just as bad.
monna I think you may be needing a trip round the nearest Charity Shops before the weekend. Have you not already had a cold spell?0 -
So Hester, if your next story is about killing solicitors, maybe your L&M may see more truth in it?
I'd have joined your funeral rent a mob Monnagran, I've been to a few sparse ones. Often it isn't that the person ws lonely in life, but that they outlived their peers.
Can b12 injections be had privately in England? The nhs guidelines were another reason I had my gp teach me how. I figured if I wound up in the UK for an extended period I'd have to rely on myself and take some with me.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I dare say softstuff, I know on a forum I'm in that they buy B12 from amazon in Germany and self inject.0

Nursemaggie: A cold spell? On the Costa Wight?
When we first arrived here we were assured that it never, ever snowed on the Island. Five months later is snowed heavily one night. People were out building snowmen at 3am because they were afraid that the snow would have disappeared by daylight. All the snow slid off the church roof and demolished our car that was parked underneath.
Winter clothes it is then.

The snow on this roof always and unerringly falls onto my Sky dish. (I don't have Sky but do have Freesat.)0

Well we did have some snow last week. DS said its snowing about 11pm but as it had been raining all day it did not lie. We have had two cold spells down to nearly freezing at night and 3 or 4 during the day.
I bought some long sleeved vests in Ald! a week last Friday only £4.99. Much better than Dam**t and a great deal cheaper.0 -
That sounds a good idea nursemaggie. I did buy two with short sleeves last year, and they were lovely and cosy but the hem of the sleeves was a bit on the tight side (that's what comes of having fat upper arms, which I'm not allowed to refer to as "bingo wings" as it makes my DD really cross - she exclaimed "How dare you talk about yourself as if you were some fat old woman who plays Bingo all day!!!" Bless her.) :A0

ivyleaf I just have the flabby bit that just hangs down when I stretch my arms out.
I have never had long sleeve vests before and I must say I am very pleased with them. I was nice and warm last week when it was cold. Not wearing now as it is warmer. I have a grey one a black one and an ivory white one with pretty lilac flowers. I think I could get away with wearing them as jumpers.0
