Would you be ok with full time, Softstuff? I hope things work out just right for you :T

Well, we'll take it as it comes. If I'm full time we'd throw money as fast as we could while it lasts at the mortgage, though this time I'd also spend some on meals out and other treats to make the situation more manageable. The company is also very amenable to changing hours down the track. It isn't my ideal, but if it's between 1 day or 5 days I'd take 5 and hunker down for a while.

When I've been paid and have a years worth of toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, laundry powder etc, along with hole-less socks and a full pantry, I'll feel generally more settled. Even if our house still looks like a war zone!

    Brilliant news Softstuff!
  • I'm becoming a great fan of some of these old phrases Softstuff....and the one applicable in your case is "Make hay while the sun shines".:)
  • Excellent news Softstuff, I agree just see how it goes. My hours are going up to 25 in January, then 30 later in the year, so i'll see how I manage those - could use the money to save up for early retirement if I decide I want/need it.
Hands feeling a bit better today - I need to knit/sew/crochet less and find something else to do - thought about a tapestry - haven't done one for a while, big needle/stitches might be good, and i love jigsaws. I'm useless at sitting doing nothing, and if things don't improve i may have to spend more time on the dreaded housework!!
  • Great news Softstuff.
I'm ridiculously excited here, I've just had an email to say that one of my stories has been accepted by our local hospital radio!

WCS: Spend more time doing housework? Heaven forbid! Reading has a lot to commend it, and it can be done while cosily wrapped up in your favourite armchair with a cup (or glass) of something delicious at your elbow. Yep! Reading is the way to go.

Bit of a dilemma here. Tomorrow I'm going to the funeral of my friend's much older husband (102 years old). She has asked that we all wear bright colours and I'm finding that quite difficult. Most of my winter clothes are dark - at least the ones suitable for funerals are. I hope it is not too cold as I have settled on a long brown skirt with a white t-shirt and a pale pink jacket. Not exactly bright but not too gloomy either.

Unfortunately, I am of an age where funerals are more common than any other occasion I have to attend. More and more people are specifying colourful clothes and I quite understand why so I am going to have to scour the charity shops for suitable outfits.

Softstuff: well done! Does this mean that you won't be surfing the forums in the dead of our night in future? If I wake in the night I will have to bore Mila from now on.

Monna - how about some really bright scarves/pashminas? They won't cost a lot as the CS usually have a good selection and they won't take up too much room and you won't have to buy something that you would never usually wear. They also come in useful as an extra wrap when there's not much heating in church ;)

Silvasava that was exactly my thought! A strong colour scarf can make plain black look bright.

Good news with the job softstuff, just remember you cannot be moving tonnes of gravel and work full time!

Hope you're continuing to feel better fuddle, glad you have got the diagnosis. Will you have to take other medication as well as having the B12 injections?

Love the waistcoat mar, I could do with something like that for work, our office can be more than chilly at times.

I've just been for a walk to the bottle bank, it is a bit drizzly but incredibly mild after the cold spell of last week. Don't think I will see the 'Supermoon'.

I think tights and a pashmina could work well - must admit I have red and green striped tights in my mind's eye ;)
