This isn't relevant to L&M at all but I wanted to comment that our behaviours are learned Money. Life effects each and every one of us in a way that alters us. Sometimes it is helpful to individuals to try to change their thinking, their reactions etc and those that do CBT are actually more in tune with their emotions and being.
Ask me how I knowIt's not nonsense based on idiots views. It's ruddy helpful stuff.

I agree - CBT has helped several people I know, and there are others including me who have changed behaviours or reactions to the better.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

In the instance mentioned - ie Hester's hubby - then the problem is not with him/his attitude at all. It's clearly to do with unrealistic expectations in the job and therefore not appropriate for him to try and change himself at all. Things are often that way.
I wouldnt dispute the need for people to change themselves personally if they are taking out their own personal bad moods on other people that have nothing to do with their situation (that well-known "kick the cat" syndrome - when the poor cat isn't the one that's upset them and isn't involved in their lives at all). Now that is a case where the need is there for people to change their own emotions (ie so that they can remain treating other people objectively/logically and not in a way they don't deserve). I think that's a bit of a different kettle of fish to an employer treating someone unfairly.0 -
I was referring to your last paragraph Money - rather scathing to the idea of CBT and dismissing it as nonsense.
This is another case of you expressing your views about a subject that you clearly do not understand.
CBT isn't about taking 'bad moods' out on other people. It's a talking therapy (counselling) that helps lift the fog that feeds anxiety and depression in order to understand what causes it in the first place and how a person can retune the thinking to be able to cope with similar situations better, in the future.0 -
Just gone back and checked my own post - I was referring to CBT purely/simply/ONLY in relation to the situation re Hesters hubby:)
HTH:)
Right - now what's happening in the news today?0 -
You dismissed the whole concept of CBT as nonsense Money but I hope I have helped you too by managing to educate a little about the subject.
What's happening today?
I'm North bound going home with the caravan in tow. I can't wait for a bath and intend using a jar of thai green curry for tea.0 -
....and how are people feeling re the bad (Calais and all that) or even worse (Putin and all that) news?
You know this may not be the way everyone would react when you've spent time the last few days making sure every last little bit of paperwork is thoroughly up-to-date - because it helps you feel a little bit "on top of things/as organised as you can be" for whatever the News comes up with next.....:rotfl:0 -
Safe journey fuddle x
I had a call from the hospital a little while ago; they've fitted me in for a pre-op assessment on Monday at 0900, which is fine, but on Friday I have to be there for the op at 0730. I'll have to book a cab; OH won't be able to take me. If he has to get up very early he'll feel dreadful all day. So will I, but at least I'll get to have a snooze at some point0 -
I've had numerous hysteroscopies ivyleaf. The early morning sometimes feels like the worst bit of it
you might want to make sure you've got some of your own sanitary protection as the hospital stuff isn't comfortable and you might need more when you get home. And you'll need a rest, a hot water bottle and some mild pain relief. And lots of TLC
I hope it is all straightforward and either rules out problems or identifies something that can be dealt with easily.0
