  • Monna, I forgot to thank you for the term salacious, second only, in my eyes to the word lascivious, both words that are so descriptive.
Stuffing for 60, now you are talking my language Monna! I cannot help with a nut roast recipe but I used to make a lovely lentil roast years ago.
Glad you had a good time in Malta Nurse Maggie, head torches are £5 or £6 we bought one for one of the DGS's last year.
My L&M and I walked Winston the lodger this afternoon, he took great exception to a cow that got too close to us, hackles up he went straight into defend mode, the cow merely looked surprised and carried on past us to the river bank for a drink.
I'll miss him when he goes, but I shall be relieved not to lose anymore clothes pegs, he will insist on chewing them up if I drop them.
    Chin up, Titus out.

Sorry monna I usually pick up on what is a joke.

That is the last time I let DS search for something on line. We thought it was cheaper than Amazon but they included VAT. I fail to see how 20% of £1.50 comes to £2.09 but that is what they have charged for VAT. It should have said that VAT was not included.

Would you believe it is coming all the way from the west coast of the USA. It is Bl**dy ridiculous. Why do the government make local Authorities use obsolete fittings so that the tenant has to pay for it to be replaced when it does not work?

They're not obselete nursemaggie, unless it's an unusual fluorescent tube. I have them in my garage and recently got one from screwfix for about a fiver...

Thanks Greenbee we tried everywhere on line that had a shop locally. We ended up with a specialist firm that said it was from UK. Amazon only had one size and so did this firm. B & Q stopped stocking them a couple of years ago and scrwfix are are the same company as B & Q, screwfix are not available locally on a bus route so the taxi fare is £12 each way.

I used to work for two local authorities housing departments so I know what the law is about procurement. They have to buy the cheapest thing even if paying 1/2p extra for something would last ten times as long. That law came in in the early 90s.

monnagran I've never eaten nut roast myself, but a lovely poster called Pastures New and her family have always used the one from the Cranks cookbook. It's a Christmas tradition for her although she's not vegetarian herself.

I found several examples by googling "Cranks Nut Roast".

    HTH :)
  • Watched episode 3 of Victorian Slum, and very sobering watching it was. Many parallels with life today for a growing number of people, with the divide between rich and poor widening.

Mar I haven't had the pneumo jag yet as we don't have any up here, but did have a sore arm and a huge red lump (about 2 inch across) from the flu jag.

I've been to visit a workhouse today wcs. Definitely sobering. I've not watched the Victorian Slum series yet but hopefully I can catch up when I get home. (In my caravan)

I will have the pneumonia jab when I get a bit stronger from this second bout but the flu jab shot my arm so I am not looking forward to it!

Greenbee, I can only sympathize. I cope better with no bathroom than no kitchen, so need to make better plans before ripping the kitchen out.

Shanks, if you saw the dust here, you'd exclude me from the offer.

Ivyleaf, it seems common to switch pork for beef over here. Dunno why.

Glad you had a nice holiday Nursemaggie. Hope the light arrives soon. I'd have no idea where to purchase one either.

Yes Mardatha, had one a few years ago and that was a sore one. Swelled up too.

Monnagran, I used to love the Rose Elliot one, http://thriftyliving.net/2009/11/23/cashew-nut-roast-with-herb-stuffing/
Having seen 2 elderly ladies face off brandishing zimmer frames in a retirement home over a perceived slight, they do not surprise me.

Friday should see the end of the tiling :j no work contract for me yet though. Might break your record yet Floss and not even start the job :rotfl:
