Softstuff: When I say 'salacious', I mean 'salacious'. You may claim innocence but we all know better. 'Aint that right, folks?

Floss: That sounds like a plan!

I have a meeting in Ryde today. All our Lunch Club members are to discuss arrangements for the Christmas Lunch. This will not be as simple as it sounds. The 'let's try something different' group will clash with the 'we've always done it this way' faction.
I intend to offer to make all the mince pies and the stuffing and from then on be blind and deaf. It's much the best way.

DIL's friend is at this very moment trying to sort out my laptop for me.
I HATE, HATE, HATE Windows 10.

Welcome back monnagran :j We've missed you!

Pah, I have vertigo again. I still have 12 tablets left from last time though so no need to rush to the walk-in clinic today.

At least I'm fairly okay once I'm up and about. It's lying down/sitting up from lying down that causes the most problem!

I suppose we need to do food shopping today. I don't fancy it in the least, and have no idea what I'm likely to feel like cooking in the coming week

    Beans on toast, anyone? :D
  • :rotfl:at that way of putting it Monna - ie the "lets try something different" group v. "we've always done it this way".

Hmm...as someone that tends to be in the "lets try something different group" on things.

Could be worse - could be the "Let's do things democratically/openly/fully accountable" group v. the "Someone must be IN CHARGE and it's 'need to know' basis". I can sometimes manage to be in a group of 1 - as the "let's do things democratically - it is the 21st century after all" group. But I'm quite good at getting them changed to the "open/accountable/etc/etc" model:)

*hugs* Floss, feel free though to have a whine if it would help. You've certainly not even started to make a dint in your annual quota and Christmas is coming ;)

Ivyleaf, I'm feeling much the same in the kitchen (without the vertigo). A week out of the kitchen and I've forgotten what I do in there. Beans on toast sounds delightful.

You can imagine how I feel after 3 years with no proper kitchen softstuff :) I must get round to doing something about it, but just don't seem to be able to find the time and energy.

Nope. I want a cleaner too. Problem is I need to finish the house before anyone could cope with cleaning it!

((HUGS)) greenbee. You WILL have a proper kitchen again one day!

Softstuff When we were in NZ we were surprised to find that Antipodean canned beans-and-sausages have beef sausages. We tried then but they tasted very odd, but then we're not fond of fresh beef sausages either.

That's a great offer but I too need a cleaner as well!

Hiya nursemaggie  If you're still in Malta I hope you are enjoying yourself and that the weather's still dry and warm.

Well, we went to Morrison's in the end, and main-meal-type-food-wise I picked up 2 packs of mince (one's gone into the freezer), a bag containing 2 of their yummy steak pies, and some fish for Friday. There's chicken in the freezer already, so we'll manage with that, I think. Got veggies too, and some ham and liver sausage for lunches.

Slightly off topic - can any of you wonderful people help please? DH is very partial to the M*ller Fruit Corner yogurts. I have fruit languishing in the freezer that I could use providing I can find a plain yogurt that has a similar taste & texture - any ideas/recommendations gratefully accepted ;)

    Hi everyone.

I am back. Was back yesterday but the house is in such a mess had to make a start. I have got all the washing done. More of DS's than mine. He has had lot of remarks about not being able to cope without mummy.

When I got in he asked what I had done on holiday and then before I had chance to speak he talked for 4 hours solid. Then he told me the strip light in the kitchen had gone. Not having had one in the last 40 years I did not know where to buy one and neither did he. He could have looked on line.

Turns out we can't get a strip light off line so I have to have a lamp in the kitchen until one it arrives. It cost £1.50 plus shipping which took it to £12.54. That is ridiculous but we can't change to a modern light fitting until we have been in the flat a year. Then we have to wait until we have permission so it could take to the end of January.

I am stuck with this lamp until the strip light comes. The lamp is just on a stick with a wide base and little lamps on it to switch on separately. It takes up as much room as a person so I am stuck when in the kitchen with no room to move. I have to pick it up and move it to the living room to be able to move from the worksurface to the cooker. Only one step. By the time I had cooked dinner I was ready to go back to Malta.

I had a lovely time. I even have a tan. I don't tan very easily.

GDS is the size of a 5 year old yet he was only three at the end of June. He started full time school at the beginning of October. He is beginning to read, self taught. He can swim, get out of the pool on his own, jump in and do about a length all on his own. He has been going to the pool regularly since he was 2 weeks old. They have not been teaching him to swim. He swims better than me.

I did all my Christmas shopping while on holiday. Glad I won't have to go searching for things. I have bought them all something small and then I will give them some money.

Yes I would like a cleaner too. I doubt anyone will last long here as there is no where to move stuff to when you vacuum.
