Hester pet, the inner side of you is just every bit as important as the outer bit, and it does matter. I can't meditate at all, my mind wanders off into what's for the tea - but I do cloud watching instead. Or I turn loud music on and wear headphones then sit with my eyes shut, it's fantastic. Let your mind fly woman! lol0

Hester Your meditation worked because your mind switched off long enough to allow you to cath up on some much-needed sleep!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

WCS: I used to make all my own clothes too, with an ancient hand machine and on the floor, lacking a table. I even made myself a lined coat and matching skirt for a wedding. I could do it but I never really enjoyed it, sheer necessity drove me to it.
Hester: Thank goodness you have had some sleep at last. I was getting really worried about you, nobody can exist on the little snatches of sleep you have been getting.
Of course you can't make your mind a blank, you'd have to be dead to do that. I do something similar to Mar, (and I never thought I'd hear myself saying that!)
She sees clouds, I (mentally) take myself to the beach, close my eyes, relax every part of my body in turn then enjoy the warm sun and watch a beautiful calm sea just gently lapping against the sand.
It works for me.
Peaceful music helps too.
Having typed all that I now fancy going down the road and sitting by the sea and actually doing the things I have described. The wind has dropped so the sea should be calm but I dont think it will be warm enough to lie back and relax.
Or perhaps I will just go back to bed.
Have a relaxing Sunday if you can lovely people.

I think life today is like being a hamster on a wheel. It's really not how we were meant to be, and I wonder sometimes if the stress, added to pollution and the garbage they put into food, is the cause of so many new illnesses and these syndromes kids get so much of now.0

Sneaking in to wish Mar all the very best tomorrow . I don't have a suit of armour or a lot of energy at the moment but if Monna and Hester can drag the guillotine to your neck of the woods ( actually you're a bit short of trees aren't you ? ignore that because if I delete the woods they would be dragging it to your neck and we love you too much for that ) anyway I'll bring me knitting
.
Remember she is just a human being - although that is open to debate . She sounds the type of person who is probably a nightmare to live with . At the end of the day she can waffle all she likes but you can go elsewhere firstly with a second opinion we went into another trust for that for a more independent view and if need be the private option , it shouldn't have to come to that but sometimes has to .
You will be powered by mse and good karma and love across the threads and I will among many have you very much in mind tomorrow x
I will catch up on here at some point . I do dip in and out but will be back . Sending warm wishes to you all . If they televised this thread it would be the best comedy show ever but caring and full of empathy

Nice to see you pollyanna
Hester So pleased to hear you've had some decent sleep :j
mardatha Will be thinking of you tomorrow! What time's your appointment (in theory)?
Well, it's deju vu time here - we have a gas leak again (had one back in the winter) but thankfully a very tiny one this time. It seems to be in a section of the new pipework our son put in last time and then a gas engineer checked it. It is such a small leak that although the emergency gasman's very sensitive meter was going loopy every time he put it near this pipe, his soapy water spray didn't work to show exactly where the leak was. So the joints will need to be re-soldered and checked again.
In the meantime the gas has been turned off again, and OH is desperate for a bath after the exertion of hauling everything out of the understairs cupboard so he's booked us in to the Premier Inn down the road for a couple of nights.
Some of you will remember how we had the dead mice; unfortunately this was in the same cupboard so OH was still putting the smell down to that, but I had started to feel unwell in the meantime and said I was sure it couldn't still be the mice after so long, so would he PLEASE ring the emergency gas number while I was at church! I'm glad we didn't waste the engineer's time at any rate.
Hopefully I'll soon be feeling much better0 -
You are so right Mar.
I have often thought that the chemicals in our food, the insecticides sprayed on it, the nasties in the environment and all the medications that are possibly fighting with each other, are responsible for much of our ills.
On the other hand it has always been thus.
In the middle ages flour was bulked out with powdered chalk, face cream laced with lead and while the water didn't have nasty modern chemicals it did have nasty typhoid germs, among other things.
I guess we just have to cope with the hand that is dealt us and be as sensible as possible in the times we are in.
How come I'm suddenly all philosophical?
Ignore. Ignore. Ignore.
x
P.S.. Enjoy your hotel stay, Ivyleaf.
Mar: in case I don't get on here again today, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I'm sure you won't agree with it, you wonderful old pagan, you, but I will be praying to my God for you.
You won't be alone, your army will be with you.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Blame fashion too for the pollution of our environment, not the clothing kind but the fashion for always smelling nice (like a chemical factory), all the lotions and potions we are persuaded will make us all look like supermodels and defy ageing, all the dyes etc. with which we anoint our hair, the shampoos and conditioners with all the additives to make your hair bigger, smoother, dandruff free, make up, body spray, washing liquids for clothes and conditioners, bath and shower products, room sprays, scented candles etc. etc. etc. The fashion in 'How we expect to live' and 'how we expect our homes to smell' and even the spray stuff we use to make those other smells go away all must impact on the human body and mind. Grandma just used soap and people didn't mind smelling of a days hard work!0
