When I was still working, I was having terrible pain over one shoulder blade. The GP said I could have a steroid injection, or did I want to try physio first?
I opted for the physio, the physiotherapist asked if I was willing to try acupuncture I was so desperate I'd have tried anything. I didn't feel the needles go in. After a couple of minutes he got me to sit up, and asked me how it felt. I was baffled at first, because it certainly felt different but I couldn't work out why. Then i realised - "IT DOESN'T HURT!"

Apparently the muscles had been in spasm, and the acupuncture blocked the pain for 24 hours and allowed the muscles to relax so I could start using exercises instead.

As for acupuncture - my mother had to stop having hers when I was getting excruciating pains in my hands which appeared to relate to the times and locations she was having needles stuck in her. Which makes no sense as I didn't actually know for the first few weeks she was having it... Mind you, I was also had severe upper back pain when she fell off a horse in Australia and broke her back. (I have issues with my lumbar spine so this was unusual).

How annoying! I've heard of men "coming out in sympathy" with their wives during pregnancy and childbirth. I've also heard of twins having this sort of thing. I'd not heard of it going mother to daughter before now - yikes! Does it go the other way too (ie from you to her)?

  • Evening all,

A day of chores here as we're headed to the vintage fair (GinnyKnit if you're reading there is one tomorrow--it snuck up on us otherwise I would have said sooner!) and then onto a heritage site. I'm just relaxing now as OH is making courgette lasagna for tea. I've been knitting, working on my rag rug and e-mailing far away family members and now I've just gotten a cheeky glass of wine.
  • Hi Guys mind if I re-join you? I've been away from MSE about 18 months and lot's changed! Looked totally different before I signed in?
Hope everyone is flourishing - looking forward to catching up with old friends and meeting new ones :-)

Welcome home WCS! You may be able to get back to the old-look forum , which I think many of us have stayed on, if you don't like the new design, but I can't remember how to do it. But I'm sure someone who does know will be along soon.

Lovely to have you back :)
  • Evening all and welcome back WCS!

We had a lovely day today and now have plans to go back to the site we saw for heritage day later in the year for normal events.

I'm making a Morrocan spiced cauliflower soup for tea. I'll do some hard boiled eggs, cheese, chutney, hummus and bread to fill boots as well. Work picks up considerably for me next week, particularly after Wednesday so I'm trying to enjoy the calm before the storm.
  • Hi westcoastscot I think it may be more than 18 months you have been away. I have been on here about that long but before I started I read back a couple of threads and I don't remember seeing your name.
