ivyleaf it's the same syndrome that means your children can turn lights on but not off, open cupboards but not close them, find whatever they need in said cupboards but lose the power of remembrance for the returning of items....... and so on and so on :D:D

Ah yes....we do have the latter situation when it comes to the borrowing of tools from OH's toolbox. Somehow they sort of end up in DS's toolbag instead....he's even got our platform ladder!** Though I don't mind that, since there was nowhere to put it except the hall, where it was very in the way :D

**Not in his toolbag, obviously :D

Aaagh, DGS has head lice and passed them on to his mother, who is very peeved as she had reached 39 without getting them. I pointed out that I've reached 62 without getting them and will not be happy if I get them now! I shall keep him at arm's length after school today  Meanwhile I am panicking every time my head itches, which it does in any case due to a scalp condition :o

Fairyprincess, I hope it turns out to be easier than you expect.

Ivyleaf, I thought I'd escaped headlice by not having kids. My friends kids proved me wrong, they're very huggy children....

We're on our holibobs tomorrow, a whole night away :D and Henry Rollins too. He's up there with Sean Bean Hester. In fact push came to shove, Henry might be the winner.... mostly because the conversation after would be better :rotfl:

I have started to scratch my head now  I am certain I don't have the problem mentioned but just the idea makes me itchy.

I had the bright idea of changing my superking bedding last night as today was due to be a good drying day which would have been fine but I decided to try to not just turn the mattress around but flip it all the way over. Take it from me - one person cannot support a superking mattress let alone stand it on one end and flip it. After a lot of puffing and panting and panicking I eventually got the darn thing back on the bed. I also decided to wait till there are at least three adults in the house to try anything like that again. Wonder if it counts as a workout?

I am so sorry you are losing sleep because of the "beeps" that are making decisions or rather not making them. Hope that you will find a way through soon and don't let the beggers grind you down.

Just had a delivery of four boxes which I will need to sort out and store. Gave the post guy a cold drink which was much appreciated as it was such a hot day. Seems silly on such a hot day but I seem to be like a squirrel getting prepped for bad weather. I am working on stores of shampoo, shower gel ,toothpaste, dish washing and laundry cleaners etc. I am also trying to work on the last few moving in boxes and put things where they can be easily found.

Now I am at home most of the day I find my slippers get really tatty quickly so found a sale online and ordered another couple of pairs as well as finding jeans that should have been £39 for £9 each so grabbed the deal.

    Hugs to all

  • Softstuff, never mind the conversation, after the before, I just want more before!!

I have a meeting with my line manager tomorrow morning, the boss of the copier company came into work yesterday to complain about my complaints!
What a twossack, I am more than happy to put all my complaints in writing, during one visit the engineer took the faulty part out of machine 2 and swapped it into machine 1 and then was surprised when machine 1 stopped working!
Ye gods and little fishes, they are a waste of space!
    Chin up, Titus out.
  • It sounds to me like they are trying for constructive dismissal. If they insist in you doing the work on a machine that does not work. They will not repair said machine nor will the company that own the machine. Now you have to see the boss about it? I would get ready to take them to a tribunal.
  • Quick query here re cooking.

I've often wondered what "red pepper flakes" are exactly. I see them listed as an ingredient on so many recipes (ie American ones) I take a look at and have been in T*sco looking for them without success. So - I'm guessing they are something we have a different name for in this country.

I tend to just add a bit of smoked paprika instead - and assume that's somewhere along similar lines.

    One example recipe being:

    https://www.alrecipes.com/recipe/239042/roasted-cauliflower-steaks/

which is what I'm currently doing for dinner and have duly substituted those red pepper flakes for smoked paprika again.

You'd be better adding cayenne pepper, as red pepper flakes are generally flaked red peppers of the hot / chilli variety (not bell peppers).

  • Hester,

You could do without that hassle at work too.

In your position - I'd always "throw the ball into their court". Ask and ask and ask again if need be about just what job they wish you to prioritise/just which way they want you to work - always get them to be the ones saying how things will be done and when and then you can just "boomerang" it straight back into their laps of "I was doing the task you said"/"I was doing it the way you said"/"I asked for your suggestion as to how you thought would be best to deal with that"/etc etc.

That's basically the approach I was told to use and keeping copies of what was what in writing, etc by the union back in my troublesome last job.

    It worked.
