    Welcome back WCS.

Yesterday hubby helped me sand the plaster and fill in the bathroom and loo, so today I'm going to have a bit of a clean, then I'll pop some undercoat on. No shower screen yet, they phoned last week and admitted they'd stuffed up their measurements, so they've ordered a new one.

No microwave yet either. Much longer and we'll be going into month number 4 they've had it. Ho hum.

  • Morning all,

I must admit to feeling a bit stressed about work this week. I know a big task is coming but I've never done it before so it is making me nervous.

Last night's soup was a bit odd, I probably won't make it again but we have portions for two meals in the freezer. It wasn't terrible, but I imagine eating it two more times each will be enough. Normal work this morning for me, a lunch time yoga class (when fares are cheap :o) and a few errands and then back home to work this afternoon. I've done my morning chores--unload the dishwasher, re-load with breakfast things, have a quick wipe round, open downstairs curtains and start a load of washing. Tonight's tea is Chorizo and cannelini bean stew. Very quick and easy.

Marif you're reading the Tiger bread was ok. I put it in the oven for five minutes as per the packet. It was a bit crumbly rather than chewy. We were having it with soup so it was fine, but I think the bloomer loaves are a bit nicer.

Hi folks, thank you for all your good wishes for the wedding on Saturday, everything went wonderfully well, the dessert cakes were all eaten, tissue flowers were used as buttonholes & hair adornments all night, the bride looked beautiful and I am now exhausted!

Disappointed to come down and find that the washing-up fairies haven't been busy overnight so it's down to me after all :( I wasn't up to doing it last night.

We're looking after DGS after school today and both DGC tomorrow, but might go to the coast on Wednesday if OH feels up to the driving :)

Woke up to the wind howling in the windows again - this wind's been really annoying this sumer. The noise of it makes you tense somehow and I keep waiting for the wolves circling the cabin to start howling..
I'm not very happy because the consultant I'm seeing next week emailed my gp and told her she wanted to wean me off the steroids and see if that will kick-start my adrenals into waking up again. According to all the info on the Addisons/AI forums, it's very risky and shouldn't be done. Plus the way I've been feeling it's more likely to kick-start me into an early grave. I'm far too weak to cope with it I think, but I've met this heifer before and hated her then, so I dont suppose she has changed - trained in Auchwitz I think. So we're looking at going private, but my head's in such a muddle with it all.
Meanwhile back on the ranch, the damn catfood cost me £18 yesterday, and I'm now wishing I had an OS puddytat. Beeglie is definitely not on board with scrimping.. :D

Mar, my puddy has James Wellbeloved oral health - JB is £18ish for 4 kg from PetsAtHome online, which lasts about 12 weeks, so her food costs approx £1.50 a week.

Mar you know you best. So sorry you feel you have to go private but I fully understand why. I am waiting for more than just thy gob to be working at a fitter kilter.

WCS welcome back!! I am so sorry to read that you have had repeated boughts of that thing I never ever want to go through again. I do hope it stays away from you from now on. You're in the right place for money being tight. To change it back to the old settings? It's under control panel. There's an option to change to the older version.

Some not so bad news but not really great news this morning. DH has lost 50% of his hearing in both ears due to Industrial hearing loss. He's to wear aids in both ears. It must have happened in the late 90's early to mid 00's as ear protection is important these days. Like I say it doesn't really matter. He can cope and the specialist told him that as far as Industrial hearing loss is concerned it won't get any worse should he continue with the safeguards that his company now have in place.

I grew up with my grandad having the effects of working down the coal mines. Emphysema was just awful. A bit of hearing loss is small fry eh?

I'm not around much atm so this will be short. (Stand up that person who cheered.)

Welcome back WCS. You have been missed.

Glad the wedding went well Floss. Now rest.

Ivyleaf. My household fairies are on strike too. They don't seem to be interested in negotiation.

MAR: There is only one way to deal with this. When you next see Himmler, present her with a letter to sign stating that she takes full responsibility for any deleterious effects of changing your medication. This concentrates the mind wonderfully.
If she demurs tell her that you cannot agree to any alteration in your treatment without a signed letter as it covers you legally.
I'm not sure if it does but it sounds good.

Personally I hate the 'compensation culture' but as it is with us you might as well use it to your advantage.
    Hugs.

I have a friend from the mainland landing this morning who is staying until Friday.
It is also my week for cooking at lunch club - quiche for 60 and a bucket of coleslaw. My parther-in-crime is doing the puds.

I have a new (to me) laptop arriving this week. I am so excited. It had Windows7 installed, which is what I wanted. Unfortunately the person sending it to me very kindly upgraded it to Windows10, which I very much DID NOT want.
Never mind. I will now be able to type with 2 hands and write even longer posts.
(Is that person booing the same one who cheered at the beginning of this post? I know who you are!)

Fuddle. Beware! Hearing aids are no cure for the selective hearing loss that most men come equipped with.

Fuddle, sorry about your DH, but glad you're managing.

    Ivyleaf, this is for you:

Mardatha, can your GP not request a referral to a different consultant? Other than that, yes go private. I'm still paying the price for bad doctors years ago, your health is so important.

Glad the wedding went well Floss, time for a rest now.

Fairyprincess, I'm sure you'll do great, take a deep breath and relax.
