Hugs to both Mar and Hester. Can't add anything else that could be useful though.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Awh Camelot that was nice of her - she sounds lovely.0

Mardatha, I'm sorry to hear you've got Addisons, but relieved you have an explanation and treatment. I hear steroids work better when taken with jelly babies, but kale makes them stop immediately.
Hester, when I buy a rare lotto ticket, a cut for you is always on my mind. Unfortunately I don't have much luck that way, but know that there's a lot of people here rooting for you. Glad in any case you're avoiding the lodger.
Apologies for anyone else I've missed xxSoftstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Softstuff will you be my doctor? lol0

Morning all,
I've just registered for a free wild flower seed packet with Kew Grow Wild from the main page. I'm hoping they haven't run out.
I started blackberry and apple jelly yesterday and it should be finished dripping today. I might just put the juice in the fridge and boil it up with the sugar tomorrow as I think I might do chutney at the same time--sterilizing jars is easier in big batches.
We had baked sweet potatoes with salad and hummus last night and I had some greek yoghurt with chives in as well. We ate all of the sweet potatoes so I get to freestyle my lunch. When I'm working that is irritating as it often takes longer to make an omelette or something than just heat up leftovers, but it is bringing me joy today. It is the little things, isn't it?
Mar, I've just been thinking that I hope with the aid of a new diagnosis and tablets that you're feeling more fit and can get back to gardening next summer.
Plans today include ironing, finishing the job I've been slowly working on of tidying up drawers and possibly dusting all of the hard to reach places. I got the kitchen cupboards and drawers wiped out yesterday. I think it is also time to start a very long-standing furniture re-finishing project--or at least buy the supplies so I can start it when I next get a bit of time off but that might require a post in the shabby chic thread to ask the experts there for some advice.
Hugs to all who need them--Hester, I hope you get at least two minutes of peace to yourself today.x
p.s. Monna, I'd love to see one of your picnics in action, between you and the three year old I'm guessing there is never a dull moment.0 -

Chutney update....had to reduce it on the stove for ten minutes....but otherwise good idea for small batches if you don't want to keep checking and stirring.
One could reduce the workload even more by choppi g the ingredients in a processor but we like ours chunky. Now to wait a month for it to mature.0 -
I'm just imagining how lush your kitchen smells Tired Trophy! Thanks for the update.0

Mar - sorry to hear your news. But glad to know that you have finally got a diagnosis. Once the specialists get hold of you at least you know someone will be listening. Ask them for help - diet is important with steroids, so they might be able to help with that. And also who to talk to about any side effects from medicines (my dad and the cat both have steroids... my mother says they drive her potty with their energy and constant demands for food. Although at least my dad hasn't yet been seen climbing the curtains
). Make sure you have contact details for the consultant's secretary rather than having to go via your GP all the time. Once you are in the system you tend to get well looked after.
Hester - sorry to hear your retirement date has been put off. I'm being realistic and not expecting to retire, just hoping to reduce my working hours as I get older. Thankfully my work isn't generally physically demanding, although I can imagine travel will be even less fun as I get older and jet lag takes more of a toll. So I really need to focus on my health and fitness. And getting the house finished so it's less unpleasant to live in.0 -
I suddenly had the bright idea that today would be a great day to defrost the freezer. It will be cheaper to run...she said. You can organize everything...she said. Halfway through and I'm already bitter.:rotfl:0
