Hester: my, heart bleeds for you, it really does and I'm not being funny. I think if I had been told that I had to work on for an extra few years when I had set my mind on retiring I would have locked myself in my room and howled. Impossible for you to see the sunny side of this, there surely isn't one. Life just isn't fair at times and you don't deserve this. Did anything come of trying to call your ex to account for all the money he cheated you out of? That would have made so much difference to you.
Tired T: how about taking the lid off the SC? That might reduce the amount of liquid. I don't know if it would work as chutney is about the one thing I don't make. I don't care for it myself and if anyone else in the house wants it I can direct them to the solitary jar of Branston.
Sharing a house with a 3yo is exhausting but entertaining. This morning she ascertained that her father was just popping up to the shop for his newspaper. She wondered if he was minded to buy her a small treat. Apparently it hadn't crossed his mind but he would look to see if there was a suitable magazine she might like. "Ah," she said slowly, "I was thinking more of something in the sweet area."
Look out world!
At the moment they are both happily watching old episodes of Top Gear as they have "had enough sun for the moment."
A picnic has been requested for lunch which will have to be eaten in the garden as it is still high tide. I had better go and sort out picnic-type food.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Thanks everyone
I am a bit peed off about it, mind you think of the entertainment to be had when I accidently on purpose clip one of the students round the ear with my zimmer frame. I suppose I'm lucky to have a job, I survived a number of years with a head teacher who was pushing to get rid of me. The current head doesn't have the same obsession fortunately.
Monna, no nothing from my ex, I'm still pushing though, if nothing else I will make him bloody miserable!
Love the sound of that 3yo, look out world indeed.
I managed to burn my thumb yesterday, pure stupidity and all my own fault, I sat for 2 hours with it in iced water (regularly replacing the ice) it's ok today the blister has already hardened. I used to solder for a living and many's the time I've burn my fingers doing that job.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
I'm going to "out" myself here on this forum, because I know this forum is thee most commonsense, helpful one I'm in.. (ok well the other ones are waaay off the scale of battyness, since I'm a psychic & medium lol)
I've just been diagnosed with Addisons Disease. Not yet seen a consultant, only a clinic doc and my gp.
Not sure when the ME turned into this, but it does explain why this year for the first time in history, I haven't touched my garden because I just couldn't be a$$ed, and why I've totally lost my appetite (and 2 stone with it). So now at least I've got a "proper" disease lol and a very rare one - the RV said OH MARY TRUST YOU!
I've blacked out in the street 3 times this year and a locum sent me to a Falls Faints & Funyturns clinic- and they found it with one test. So anybody with ME who finds themselves going really really low, and who passes out in the street- to ask for an adrenal test, it won't do any harm.0 -
Oh Mar sorry to hear your news is there anything that you can take/do to help alleviate the symptoms or is I'd just a case of learn to live with it? I suppose there is a sense of relief to find out you have "something" and it's not all in your head but still........0

Do you know if there are any self help or patients groups ?
Maybe once you see a consultant there will be a clearer direction for you.
Why is "rare" never good? Small consolation but at least you are finding out things IYKWIM.
Not medical advice but I would guess that pacing yourself, getting plenty of sleep, fresh air and fruit and veg, lean meat and fish could help or at least do no harm.
When run down or recuperating I swear by home made chicken soup with loads of veg in it. You could even make it in a slow cooker so you don't have to stand over it and stir constantly. I put garlic in mine but I think you prefer plainer recipes.
Sending positive vibes and fingers crossed for you.

Oh dear. My two sparring partners are both in the wars and there is nothing to say that will make things better for either of them.
Mar, I suppose there must be some relief to find that what you have is an acknowledged illness, if a rare one. Well you couldn't have anything common or mundane, could you? Presumably treatment will start at once. I used to know someone with Addisons and I know hers was kept under control so it is possible. I'm sure that the wonderful folk on here will be able to share their medical knowledge with you. All I can say is that life sucks sometimes and somehow we all do survive.
I long to say something to cheer you, and all I can think of is "JELLYBABIES".
No help at all I'm afraid.

I think you're very clever MAR, you will be a talking point with the medical profession who will prod you and poke you on numerous occasions, show you to their students and write papers about you in the Lancet.....you might be TEXT BOOK material, wow, does that make you famous??? If so is this the time to ask for an autograph??? If you weren't already a special person, which you are, this would make you one wouldn't it love?
Seriously though although it's not the diagnosis you would have wanted it IS finally an explanation of why you've been suffering so much of late and hopefully there will be medication to moderate the effects of the disease and make your life more liveable for you than it has been lately. You CAN do it love, it will take time but you CAN do it!!! Lyn xxx.0 -

I have found an online addison's disease support group which looks reputable, I hope.
