I take it that a cheap pair will do and it doesn't need to be Marrigolds?

One black cat who loves lying on white bedding :(

As long as the gloves are rubber they'll do the job. The vinyl ones aren't as 'sticky'.

I've also got a stiff rubber bristled broom and hand brush which is great for pet hair too.... much more hygienic for kitty litter spills too as you can soak it in a bleach solution and then it dries really quickly.
    :hello:
  • We had the DGD's to stay last night, they went to bed at 8 and the little bu&&ers were up by 4:30.
So today I've had a Nana nap, bathed the dog, given away some Lilliput Lane houses, made a batch of sausage rolls for hubby and cleaned the now finished bathrooms.
Tomorrow both DD's are coming over to have a mad blitz on getting rid of more stuff, we are filling all 3 cars, one to go to the tip, one to a local charity worker and one with stuff my DD1 is storing for me.

Well Hester, that's what I'd call seizing the day :T (as opposed to carpe jugulum).

I think I could do with some of what you're drinking Hester. Well done with all your efforts.

Hope you get a lie-in tomorrow Hester! I'm staying with my brother's little darlings at my parents. Have been keeping them up late and it has had a small impact on their waking up time.

Apparently my niece was up at 6.30 this morning 'daddy was asleep but mummy was awake and wouldn't let me have a cuddle in bed but I talked to her'. My SiL says that her eyelids were forced apart at 6.30am... :D

I got up at 7.30 and as my niece was 'trying to be quiet but I can't' I took her to do the supermarket shop, for which everyone else was extremely grateful. They had peace until 8.30.

Hopefully today's crafts/tennis/gardening/walk/bike ride/bird scaring might mean they are tired...
  • I slept until 6:30 which is a lay-in for me, I'm often up by 5:30, the dog has gone up to sleep on the bed with hubby as soon as I let her out the living room. I'm just having a cuppa and then I shall start bringing down the first boxes ready to be packed up.
I am doing a buffet lunch as everyone likes different food and it's the easiest way to cater for the different tastes.

  • Morning all,

It has been a busy few days. I've managed to get all of the cushion covers in the lounge washed and ironed and back on the cushions, as well as washing the sofa blanket. I need to go around with a long handled duster--there seem to be an unusual number of spiders this year. I'm not particularly bothered by them as long as they don't make any sudden movements, but there seem to be webs everywhere, appearing after just a day or two of inactivity. We've managed to sell about five of the 20 items we listed on ebay and have made close to £50. I've got most of it packaged up, just waiting for people to pay so I can print labels and then OH will take them to the post office on Monday. Hopefully everyone will have paid by then so he only has to go once. We'll start taking the things that didn't sell to the charity shop today. I've also claimed my tax refund, so that should be on its way very soon.

We had a nice time at the reception last night and I was relieved to see that my sundress was un-noticeably bland in the end and fit in well with OH's colleagues and bosses. The couple seemed to enjoy themselves although we didn't get a chance to speak to them. We had a long walk across town back to the train station as the trams weren't running but fortunately we missed most of the rain and it wasn't too cold.

I need to get myself in gear and get the menus planned so we can do the shop in a bit, and then it is the usual Sunday chores--change bed linens, vac upstairs etc.

HesterI hope the clearout is very productive and that you get a bit of time to put your feet up soon!

I've been to the big blue and yellow shed this morning to replace one of the new plates - had the old ones for 15 years and hadn't broken or chipped one, 2 days with new ones and I chipped one! Passed the old ones to a friend who has had her eye on them for a while.

If you ever need to go to Ikea, try to go first thing on a Sunday morning, the car park was quite busy but everyone must have been having breakfast, it was spookily quiet!

Whilst I was over that way I took back a pair of sports leggings I bought last week, the material feels funny when they are on which put me off.

    On with the housework!

Sounds yummy, thank you MILA I have everything in to make those having bought turtle beans today which are soaking for cooking tomorrow, I even have corn tortillas so I know He Who Knows will love this and will make it for supper tomorrow, magic!

Lyn I have never heard of turtle beans. I wonder if that's me living in my little box again or if they are something different?

I enjoyed my holiday to the Highlands. We got back Saturday but unfortunately I have not made it home yet as I'm in hospital in a bit of a pickle with pneumonia in both lungs. The pain is immense. The medical staff can push, prod, stab and today make an incision because they are helping me. Any preventative measure I can take from stopping this happening to me again I will take.

Opinion is a funny thing that is based on life experience I suppose. Some of us are 'lucky' in that we continue to be tested, cope and get over things that shape an informed opinion for ourselves and dare I say it, depth of character :)

Looking forward to the Autumn and getting stuck into OS deeply again. I have been somewhat distracted lately what with life but for me Autumm is my New Year. :D
