Thanks for comments about laptops. I will investigate further. The most pressing requirement is that it has Windows 7. DIL has 10 on her new laptop and I just don't get on with it. The words 'old dogs' and 'new tricks' come to mind.
Mrs snowy, you have just about had a basinful, haven't you?
Good luck with the arrangements and dealing with red tape after your mother's death. It seems to go on for ever. My father's affairs were relatively straight forward and my brother and I had been dealing with his affairs for a couple of years but it was still months before we could confidently say that everything was tidied up and done with.
To have a broken relationship at the same time is really piling on the agony. Your youngest may be right when he says that it's his loss, but it sounds as though it was also his choice, which makes YOUR loss all the harder. Hugs!
It's good that you are feeling calm. You must be so busy that there can't be time to do much mourning, just be kind to yourself and expect to feel worse when it is all over and the pressure's off. Be prepared and have the comfort and indulgences lined up.
Hester: just breathe will you. Please, please don't take on anything else, there is only so much that one person do in a lifetime.

Hugs Mrs Snowy we all get times when everything gets too much. Losing your mum is only second to losing your spouse. :grouphug: It will have made everything else feel worse.
We have all posted something to the wrong person or mistook something. I find it is sometimes a good idea to take a couple of notes if you have not been on for a few days. I still make mistakes.0 -
Sending hugs Mrs snowy , hope tomorrow goes as well as expected..
T&t , I constantly forget the who,what,why ...hopefully knowbody takes offence,lol
Everybody fits along this fence
hester ,please take 5 and sit still ....All that running around ,loose to much weight and the pvc will not fit  then what will you do ..?..Please don't answer that :rotfl:£223/ £250 GC0 -
I was dreaming about how to paint this fence last night and woke up thinking primrose. I'm an odd one when I'm on medication.
Amazing genealogy hit and I loved reading how you sorted it all out Tips! I have a GGF born aboard ship, in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, on the family's move back to Ireland after the father died in New York. A nun on board named him. What am I supposed to put as his birth place...Atlantic Ocean? I've never been able to find the ship's name or I could use that, although he used Ireland, in the census records, as place of birth. Maybe they were closer to there than the US.
Mrs S you have done an amazing job of care for your mother and then preparing for her funeral. I'm always quite amazed at how there are people who are capable of so much.
I love my whiskey neat and my chocolate dark with nuts preferably. You post had me breaking out the chocolate. Monna said I could.
Off to flush out my nasal passages...:eek:Overprepare, then go with the flow.

I find Win 10 really good, but Win 8 drove me mad. I think it pays to get the best when it comes to laptops and computers, I have 2 and they were John Lewis and expensive. But I don't see anybody for days on end in RL to talk to and so the internet is my social life and I depend on them.0

Mrs S , Sorry to hear about your mum take care of yourself.
Hester, Just reading that has tired me out. Please take some time out for yourself to sit still.
I have been awake most of the night, I think it might be some of the tablets I am on.
They have just changed them so will see how I go , then speak to the Rheumatologist when I see her on the 9th Aug..OH says hes surprised I do not rattle with what they have me on.
Very dull and grey here this morning. Will just do a few things and then see if I can have a nap.0 -
Today I'm planning on doing some mending, some paperwork and some writing.
Mrs Snowy hugs, what a difficult time for you.

Just now I have a coleslaw dilemma in that my neighbour has been getting two for one deals and bringing me the spare. I accepted the first one so as not to be rude but now it has become a regular thing and I don't know how to stop it!0 -
I'm planning a nice quiet day knitting xmas socks. For some reason I just can't get into this summer at all, I have knitted in my wee corner for months now, and this is the first time in the 25+yeats in this house that I haven't planted anything at all. Maybe this is the onset of old age and decrepitude... or maybe I'm just a lazy wee mess0
