:hello: t&t , welcome to the fun ... what colour would your bit of fence be ?? ... think mine at the moment is multi coloured with lots of glitter and a stand to put my book and cup on ....
Sorry no advice as such , just sending a hug as sometime we all need one.....
Ivy , glad your feeling better
Hester , don't get me started about socks .... 3 men in this house , all wear black socks, each person has a different logo on the socks so I know who's is who's ....and I wonder why I have lost the plot
Monna, that's a lot of food to prep and cook and sort , well done , you clearly deserve tea and cake in the fresh air
spent a couple of nights sorting out dd garden in there new house , now it's child friendly, had lots of roses and spiky plants in it very overgrown, and dangerous, so all removed and replanted if possible ,but starting to look ok , just need to remove a old picket type fence before a small child becomes inpailed on it .... roll on tomorrow night
youngest dd had been helping to babysitting dgc at my mums , during the day ...mum is not as quick as she was so dd chases , carries, entertains dgc leaving nappies and meals to my mum , so far so good ...lol
youngest ds seams to spend his time on xbox or chasing pokermon ... Strange .... but at least he is now wanting to go out of the house ....but thankfully not to far and I can still keep an eye on him ...
eldest ds is going away with the boys at the weekend , hopefully will come back in one piece with no odd tattoos ...going to be a long week , don't trust a couple of the lads he is going with , but nothing I can do so fingers crossed ....
Right I am wittering on ....

Thanks for the offer MM, it's Robinson and Laney or Lainey I shall be looking for. But as I'm knee deep in decorating and grandchildren it will be a while 'til I get back to looking.
Burtha oh I remember the days of worrying about kids on holiday.
Polly I had a keyboard at work where the e key didn't work, it only took 6 months to get it replaced.
Todays plans include taking men's clothes and unwanted toiletries to a local homeless charity and trying to get rid of some furniture, oh and 2 lots of babysitting, 12 - 2 and 7 - midnight.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
I gave up looking for my Cassidys and McGills, although my Munros should be a lot easier to find and stick out like sore thumbs - god knows how a Munro landed in Waterford in the 1800s lol. I know a great aunt went on the Titantic, she was one of the passengers who embarked at Cobh.0

Welcome T&T - can't give you any helpful practical advice but just second all the other posters comments and sending virtual hugs.
So glad you managed to have a lovely time with your friends Monna even if you had to work for it! And a break from Madam
Not much going on here - DH has a big charity run on the trike on Sunday & I'll be helping with registrations. If the weather stays fine were expecting 100+ in addition to those who've preregistered so busy but lots of Dosh for the charities.
Arranged with DS to take the boat out today. Not enough wind to sail but at least I'll get some practice taking her off the mooring! I've got the collywobbles already lol!
Hope everyone gets to enjoy some sunshine today and has a good day xSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I've gone quite a way back on our family tree and I've also done one for my friend. There are some horror stories out there. My gran was born in Milton in Glasgow in the 1920s. Her dad died very young and her mum was left with a lot of children who were fostered out as a result of the slum clearances. My gran was fostered out on the Isle of Skye but when the foster money from the government stopped she was thrown out. She came back to Glasgow to discover that her mum had remarried and had another child but had never sent for any of those she had to send away (she was only allowed to keep one at the time).
My friend's family had a similar story but the children that had to go to the workhouse because their mother was too poor to keep them were sent to Canada. Some stayed there but their mother followed them and a couple seem to returned to England when they were older.
It was Grumpy the house elf's last day in junior school yesterday. They came out of school at 3:30 howling and crying as though they were never going to see each other ever again (some hilarious photos), were in McDonalds by 4pm happy enough, (I saw them crossing the road as I drove home and waved to them), mine was back in the house plus friend by 5pm and they were online talking to each other from 6pm until 10pm last night. In his bag was an award for being a positive and cheerful member of class. Being a bad mother I posted it on facebook with a photo of him and two of his friends sobbing all over each other :rotfl:0 -
Hey Hester, we could be distantly related :-D sorry, didn't mean to worry you!
Wow, you've a lot on your plate TandT, sending some virtual hugs. Nursemaggie has some excellent advice for you there.
Glad you got your rice in the end Nursemaggie.

Welcome T&T, sorry things are tough for you at the moment - lots of good advice on here.
Sounds like hard work for you monna but so rewarding I'm sure.
I went for my usual Thursday shift at the hospice yesterday and it was awful - there is major building work going on, the kitchen is now tiny and like a furnace and there were cooks there that I have never met before (but were friendly and organised). I felt like a fish out of water, I've been going for 10 years and the atmosphere was horrid. I think the worst moment was when the new boss came into the kitchen (I know it was her as she had a name badge on), spoke to the cooks and totally ignored me, she could at least have introduced herself. I have put myself down for a few weeks holiday whilst I think about whether I still want to be a part of it. Sorry for the rant!
Anyway, I'll go and thrash the water at the swimming pool in a minute, that usually gives me time to think.0 -
Hi all,
Thought I,d pop my head round the corner, I have been feeling a bit, well, not down, but sad I suppose - youngest is due to start Uni in September, and although I have encouraged all my kids to be independent - I have realised over the past couple of months it's ME that's dependent on THEM.
I don't want to be a sad empty nester, so I have decided to take a positive approach and look at the upsides like more time for DH and myself, less laundry, cheaper bills and more time to indulge in cooking.
I don't know if I'm allowed to say here, but I,ve started a blog, just to put my thoughts in writing really and record my cooking - it's a new start...
How did those of you with adult children cope when they flew? - I feel a bit like an old toy that isn't played with anymore.....
Edit: Sorry Camelot, I wrote my post in word and copied and pasted before reading yours - what an ungrateful bunch is all I can say - a smile costs nothing, and I hope it doesn't put you off all together, from your posts it sounds like you enjoy your volunteering - they should be grateful, with the retirement age going up and up, volenteers are going to be few and far between in the future - hope your okay XNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
