Cornish Chick - It is so good to see you back home . I was thinking a few weeks ago about the lavender candle I light each evening for an hour . The first time I did it was for your and your beloved as many off us did throughout that sad and sometimes happy and uplifting time I still light one each night ( if wax lyrical ever stop making them I will have start making my own ) nowadays for any worried , ill or struggling in life .
Re Fibro both my youngest and myself were diagnosed myself about 12 years ago and daughter a few years later . We also have a form of RA so if you want any non-medical advice give me a shout . The most important thing is pacing although I confess real life does not always allow that to happen .
If you haven't come across it I recommend Living with Fibromyalgia by Christine Craggs - Hinton - useful for day to day advice but whatever books or forums you may read treat advice on exercise and diet with caution . We have learned that not all physio is beneficial and can actually be harmful . Learning shortcuts to managing in daily life and listening to your body and not pushing on when she should have stopped earlier and eating normal healthy food is the most helpful although as some on here know I have many times I overdo things through the demands of real life which is not good .
I suggest you ignore the " warriors " who magically do everything and can make you feel inferior . I wish you well and glad to see you're having some fun . Your old posts showed the wonderful empathy between you both and I'm sure your beloved is still flying free on the wind .

Are you saying we are all supposed to stop having a sex life when we hit menopause? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Do you honestly think Hester is the only poster on this thread with a libido?!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Ye gods I hope I'm not the only one.
I'm probably the only one who witters on about it, but I blame that on working with almost 1000 teenagers who think sex stops when you each your 25th birthday.
Though I do work with someone who gave up sex when she was pregnant with her 2nd child, 28 years ago.
I also used to think that when Mar referred to her DH as the RV, I thought she meant Recreational Vehicle!

You lot are hilarious. My gran told me when I was much younger that old people do it too :rotfl: She said she knew she was in for a treat if grandad told her to wear her nightie to bed rather than her pyjamas.

The recreational vehicle quote is the funniest thing I have read this week :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Nice to see you back Cornishchick. There is definitely life after being widowed :) I need to get my act together and start posting more often too.

It'd be great if you did Cranky, we do miss you. How is your lovely son? And have you still got both the cats?

Lovely to see you Cranky, please post more often.

I'm Scorpio, which means I'm Loyal, Passionate, Resourceful, Observant and Dynamic, well one out of 5 isn't bad I suppose.
My bad traits are I'm, Jealous, Obsessive, Suspicious, Manipulative and Unyielding, I'm not jealous where my L&M is concerned and I don't obsess about things, but I am cynical which makes me suspicious I am also extremely manipulative!
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Thank you Ivyleaf

Grumpy the house elf is fine thank you. He finishes junior school on Thursday. Today I am mostly making 150 chocolate lollipops for him and his two best friends to sell on enterprise day which also happens to be Thursday. Yesterday he lost his school sweatshirt. His face when I told him that it didn't matter as he wouldn't need it for the next three days was a picture. He also lost his last class photo that was handed to him on Friday but we found that thank goodness.

We do indeed have both cats. We've moved from Faulty Towers to a more reasonable three bedroom, one flight of stairs kind of house. Our new neighbours at the back have built a ramp up the fence for the oldest cat (Pixel who is seven) as she kept climbing on the bin then jumping to the top of the 6 foot fence, jumping down on their side and getting stuck because she is too short-legged to jump back up. The first time that I knocked on their door and asked for my cat back was hilarious..... Funnily enough quite a lot of our new neighbours know our cats. I don't think that they do as much visiting as they did in the other house though.

There was a lot to do in the new house, hence my absence. The decking in the garden which looked lovely was built completely level.....this in a country where it rains roughly 9 months of the year. It was like an ice rink most of the time so it had to be dug up and replaced with a patio. The whole house has been decorated and the grand finale was ripping out the kitchen with it's tiny and useless (to us anyway) inbuilt fridge and freezer. My kitchen is now bright, user friendly and has the right things in it. It was done with the cheapest kitchen range from Howdens but a decent fridge, freezer and cooker. Never again (but I said that when I had the kitchen done in the big house).

We love our new house. It's an ex-council house on an estate where our neighbours are 50% pensioners, 45% families like us and the other 5% are here purely for the entertainment of the rest of us it seems. The high school that Grumpy will be attending is also on the estate and it has the reputation of being one of the best schools in the area so it's all good. We have a decent sized garden now as well. I've just picked some peas, we also have mange tout, carrots, rhubarb and tomatoes all planted and growing out there.

I'll try and post more often......I'm learning to play the piano as well as everything else so I spend a fair while working on that...good job my next door neighbour with the adjoining wall to the piano is 94 and a bit deaf.

Ivyleaf You've just asked the questions I was going to ask Cranky !
Before the discussion on various actors is over a definite yes for AR .
I suspect far too much competition there .
Two that may appeal less to others - My doctor David Tennant as the doctor not so much in other roles . The humour and pathos of his doctor together with the coat and converse mean he the doctor to me . I have all the dvds and have rewatched many times and the christmas specials come out every winter .
For craggy I would say Ken Stott as John Rebus - that voice when he says " Siobhan " and wonderful Edinburgh and it's many faces make it a delight .
I just may have the complete collection and also Mr Rickmans works :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
CC Sorry for the typos in my post to you . They've just jumped out at me when I signed in . Humidity and high heat do not help .

People who are shall we say slightly higher up the autistic spectrum than others often have inappropriate crushes when stressed. When we were moving house and my stress levels were through the roof, my crush was Michael Crawford. He is older than my dad :rotfl:
I used to fancy Gary Moore (Irish blues guitar player, rough as...) but he died.....and I will always love Ali Campbell from UB40.

I'm a stubborn Taurus and my best male friend is a Scorpio like HH. Say what you will about Scorpios Mrs H, I love him to bits and wouldn't change him for the world. Mind you Grumpy is also a Scorpio and so was my nana who lived with us and looked after me when I was small so I'm probably just used to it by now :rotfl:

Pollyanna Yes definitely David Tennant in his Doctor character :smileyhea

CRANKY40 Your new home sounds just right :) Glad the house elf is doing well and will have a good high school close at hand. ETA Having just read your most recent post, Michael Crawford seems a really lovely man so I think you can be excused :D

Cranky I was typing as you were posting . Glad to see all is going well for you both and the mogs .
I think my Eden recommendation may prove to be a mistake . I watched last night and think it is beginning to head to the usual CH4 formula . The participants supposedly all have specific skills but with a few exceptions have yet to demonstrate them . There are some really annoying people on there and hardly anyone seems to be focusing on the necessary things to survive . At this stage my money is on the only person to take note of the gale force winds on the coast of the scottish highlands and build his own shelter away from the prevailing winds .
There seems to be a lot of lipstick being applied etc so for true rebuilding a new world it doesn't bode well .
I'll look at next weeks but if it hasn't improved that will be it . I think I'd prefer to stick with Mar and the others and if she insists on eating all the chocolate at least she'll generate heat in the winter :D
I trust you are all coping in the heat . Not a day for the pale skinned
Just glad I haven't needed to go out the past two days . If you love it enjoy it while it's here and those who can't cope empathy .
