Never mind ivyleaf I once ordered a blouse with patch pockets. It was waisted so a bit tight round the knees. I could not reach the pockets at my ankles. :rotfl::rotfl:

Ah, the "joys" of being petite!

Hester Smiggle stuff is all the rage in my DGD8's class too. The school has had to ban Smiggle pencil cases because they are so big that if all the children at one table have one it leaves no room on the table for anything else :D But she has one of their backpacks, which she acquired by asking everyone for smiggle vouchers for her birthday in December.

Can I ask for some help? DS does lots of late shifts. The shifts are very variable as they are open 14 hours a day from Easter until October.

Tonight is not too bad he finishes at 8pm but others he finishes at 9pm or 9.15pm. As there is not a bus until after 10pm he gets in as late as 10.30pm having been out since 10am. The food available at work is burgers and bacon sandwiches and the like so not a filling meal for someone who seems to be eating around 5000 calories a day. It is a very physical job.

What I need is to be able to cook him a substantial meal that is not too heavy, that I can get ready earlier and just keep on a low lite once it is cooked as even on the 9.15pm shift if his friend from round the corner is on the same shift he gets a lift and is home in ten minutes.

What I need is something I can have ready in case he gets a lift that wont spoil if he ends up getting the bus or walking home. He does not like casseroles. Tonight we are having lasagne. We do eat a lot of curries because I can keep the rice warm in the new rice cooker.

    Got any ideas?

It is thought (via one book I have read) that a potato before bed can help with mental health. By memory I think it is something to do with tryptophan. When I worked the 14 hour day weekend shift DH would get me a jacket potato ready with a salad. Cracking idea boult and a one that worked well for us.

I never thought anyone would recommend jacket potatoes I should have said he does not like them. I can just about get him to eat a few chips or some roast potatoes but nothing else in potatoes.

He really does need 5000 calories a day so not light meals this is his main meal at night. Imagine you are feeding a miner or a farmer before mechanisation.

CRANKY40 Oh dear, I hope no one buys DGD a talking watch !

candygirl Shopkins here too! I see there's a Shopkins magazine too, quelle surprise. Such a shame Twinkle no longer exists, my girls loved that.

Who else on here is old enough to remember the Playhour and Jack and Jill comics? :D

ETA Sorry nursemaggie, I'm not ignoring your request, just don't know what to suggest.
