Such sad news about Victoria Wood. She was one of the greats in my book. She and Julie Walters are both legends. Both of them are so understated, no self promotion or flashy life styles and never, to my knowledge, appeared in the gossip columns.
I hope the fact that this thread is so quiet means that everyone is enjoying this glorious sunshine. Unless you are at work of course, in which case, get back to your duties AT ONCE.
I am trying to psyche myself up to get the runner beans started. Someone, somewhere seems to be under the misapprehension that I am a keen gardener. NOOOOOOOOO!
I love gardens but hate, absolutely loathe, gardening. Still, I've collected all the loo roll insides, there is potting compost somewhere around in the garden and I'm sure I can lay hands on a trowel somewhere. Or an old spoon. Or something. And I'm running out of excuses. Sigh.

I to have runner beans to do Monna, how about you give me a kick in the 'ariss' and I'll give you a gentle nudge to get going. Still if they are going to do the same as my broad beans I'd better give Softstuff a heads up they will just about be coming up in Austrialia when she goes back there.£71.93/ £180.000

Oh Boultdj I failed again. Someone phoned and would you believe it? I found a knitted teddy that was crying out for a little jumper and it seemed a shame not to do it while I had the wool there. Good heavens! The cake tin was empty so it was no trouble to knock up a Victoria sponge. Is that the time? Better set of to collect little one from nursery. Well! What d'you know? It's much too late to plant beans now.
I know. I'm a disgrace.
Procrastination, thy name is monnagran.

Well by 'eck monna, choices choices. Do I garden, natter on the phone, bake or get my knitting out? Doesn't matter as long as I'm happy
Hectic here as I have inlaws staying and losing sleep night after night as given my bed up.
We have had a couple of days of glorious, glorious sunshine and I hope you all have too. Nothing better than seeing a line full of whites getting whiter in the sun's rays. Yes, I agree. I do need to get out a bit more0 -
I've been absent from the thread too, what with carp happening at work, carp happening with DD and this is the second night I've not been able to sleep.
I did manage to replace a zip in one of the DGC's onesie and I'm now just waiting for the magnetic catches to arrive so I can finish making my bags.
We also have no runner beans planted, or anything else for that matter, hubby has not recovered enough from the death of his mother to spend any time in the garden.
Sometimes I feel like I'm carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders, but hey ho, life can be a bu&&er sometimes. Lots of people ae dealing with worse stuff, I'll stop whinging now, lol.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
I Empathise Hester. Sometimes life is a life of skittles and keeps knocking you over. I long for the days when I could natter on phone or knit a teddy or bake a cake. Now everytime the phone goes it's more family drama from my daughter, there's nobody to knit for, and I canny eat cake for bloody heartburn. BUT people like us Hester just keep rollin along! lol0

And thank any deity you like that you ALL do keep rolling along, you're the icing on lifes plain cake my friends and life would be very much less fun without your words. Thank heavens for virtual friends, most definitely a blessing in our lives!!!0

I posted yesterday afternoon because Monnagran's post about not wanting to start the runner beans reminded me of a poem I saw at the Imperial War Museum called "Dig For Victory", but the post has disappeared. Perhaps I moved to a different thread before my post had quite finished being sent.
Anyway, the poem says we should "Go to it!" and "When your back hurts, laugh with joy [no relation] and Keep On Digging!"
Hmmm.
Anyway Monnagran, you couldn't have left that poor little teddy without a jumper! Some things just have to be done, don't they!
Hester (((HUGS))), I hope you can get some sleep tonight x
ETA Oops, just found my missing post, I posted it on the When the SHTF thread instead0
