Nice to see you all back. Not just the lovely weather then. Forecast says it will break tomorrow but I will keep my fingers crossed it will still be here Monday.
DS looks as if he has been to Spain for a week or longer maybe. He tans really easily. He said He took his jacket off on Tuesday afternoon and he has had if off every afternoon since. If we have a good summer he will be the same colour as his mate at work. The one he has been training. He gets two more trainees on Saturday.
This is not official he is a supervisor but his boss can see the management potential in him and is getting on with training him for management. It all depends if he can get full time in Seasonal as he hates car parks.
I'm as bad as you monna In this nice weather I could be putting my summer bulbs in. Others have created beds round the edges of the grass so I will too where there aren't any. I have been finding myself chasing my energy supplier every afternoon. British Gas are still refusing to admit they changed my meter.
I think I have now at least found out that BG's computer is talking to !supply's computer and then !supply's computer keeps threatening me because I am leaving (which I am not) before my contract finishes. It's sending me emails in bunches with a deadline to contact it two days before it sends them "or else!"
Hester you weren't the only one not sleeping. Now I know the computer is doing it and it can't do anything else but threaten I have slept better.
It is bad enough knowing I have to wait until the council have seen two of DS's pay slips before I get my housing benefit back. Hopefully the energy bit will be quicker.0 -
Have you ladies thought about the restrictions life is throwing you in another way? Instead of getting stressed about not being able to do it your self, just think of it as a promotion to a superviser, you get paid more, can sit and have a cuppa when you need it and get to tell/train the younger generation on how to do things properly.
After all look at all the wise words and willingness to help you all give out on this and other old style threads, the lot of you are lovely ladies.£71.93/ £180.000 -
Hester I just want to wrap you up in a warm blanket and feed you warm drinks, or sips of gin, your call. I could do the same for Mar but I dont fancy her weather. I will hand her over to Mrs LW.
My heart goes out to the pair of you. It's one of those times when you just have to focus on getting through one day at a time, or if that seems too much then concentrate on getting through the next 10 minutes. Life certainly stinks at times.
Nursemaggie: What wonderful news about your son. He must have made a fantastic impression on his superiors. Fingers crossed that all goes smoothly for him. You must be so proud.
I had great plans for today but it is raining which is cue for all sorts of excuses about things like runner beans. I blagged a lift up to my friend who is storing all manner of my things in her garage. I retrieved my knitting patterns and a couple of small cabinets containing all my sewing things. Last night my DIL's friend came round and heard the sad story about how I wasn't able to collect my sewing machine. She immediately offered me her machine which she never uses. What an angel. Now I will have a whole lot of projects that I can put off until another day.
If anyone is planning something lovely for the weekend I see that the weather is set to be better than today, but cold. Wrap up warmly and have fun. Or just wrap up warmly.

Monna, love your comment about putting off projects until another day.
I am procrastinating here but know that I'll feel so pleased with myself, if I just move my backside and do something.
Ok, dog walk it is then.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
OH has received a Cotton Traders "autumn preview" catalogue. I'm going to need a couple of warm jumpers next Winter, so thought i'd have a look. The model on the front was wearing a chunky jumper that looked just the job - high neck, but not an actual snug-fitting polo neck which I can't bear to wear.
So I found the jumper inside the catalogue and it's available in 3 colours, looks just what I wanted, except......someone decided it would be a good idea to put patch pockets on the front. As if I wouldn't have looked chunky enough already without some extra chunk on my tummy. Sigh.0 -
Never mind ivyleaf I once ordered a blouse with patch pockets. It was waisted so a bit tight round the knees. I could not reach the pockets at my ankles. :rotfl::rotfl:0

You don't want to borrow one of my procrastination tactics then? That being that I can manage to convince myself that I'm actually Doing Something if I'm supervising a workman doing work on my house (yet again....).
I know...I know....and its a major cop-out and does not justify not actually doing anything personally myself. I've been employing it again for the last few days though.....
It will be a relief in some ways to have that particular workman finish soon - and then I know I will just have to get back to the List of Tasks I have got up there on my fridge door (ie of things I MUST do personally). I do try normally to be able to cross at least one thing off the list each day - so that I know I've "achieved" something and give myself lectures that I must not "let myself off the hook" courtesy of lowered energy levels from health problems (now fairly certainly diagnosed of too low iron levels - by realistic standards and not British NHS standards). No wonder I have to be very "firm" with myself to make myself do anything much sometimes.....:(0 -
DGD5 has been collected from school, taken to dance class and then returned home to be swapped with DGD8 who has spent the last 30 minutes explaining that she wants a Smiggle eraser for her birthday, in January!
She's off to bed soon & I won't be far behind her, my L&M came with me on the round trip from work to DGD's school, to our house so she could change, then to dance, then back to her house via Tesco's to buy her sweeties and then back to our house with DGD8. He couldn't believe how long it took and said 'Now I understand why you are so tired on Fridays'.
I shall try to fit in an hours crochet before I fall asleep, thanks for the offer of gin Monna, but I've reached my limit of one prosecco and one limoncello for this month.
Right I better go, DGD has all my chipped Lilliput Lane houses on the floor making a village and she need a traffic policeman (me) to sort out the cars. So you see there is a bright side to everything, if my ex hadn't chipped them I wouldn't let the DGC play with them. As it is I don't care if they get broken and they provide hours of fun.Chin up, Titus out.0 -
Hester, you sound just like Pollyanna, ("the glad game"). Loved that book as a child.

Nurse Maggie, you must be around my height, I used to wear cutoff trousers what used to be called Capri Pants as it saved having to take them up.
You must be so proud of your son, he is doing so well.
And yes it is just after 3am and yes I expect DGD will be up by 5:30, still this DGD wants to make Barbie clothes rather than cakes so it's a bit quieter.Chin up, Titus out.0
