Ivy I read that as topsoil - I thought my god things must be getting bad :D

Oh mar, I do love you* :rotfl:

Thank you Pollyanna :) DGS and his fiancee took her to Morrie's today and he pushed her round the shop in one of their wheelchairs.

    * Actually I am very fond of all of you. Thank you for being you.

Monnagran, it's ok to get down sometimes; we wouldn't appreciate the better times if life was sunny all the time. I love that you're being 'interfering', but it's in a good cause! :T I think they should appreciate your help, and let you have some space for your own food etc. in the kitchen.

When we were first married, we had to live in with my parents for a year before we could get a council house. My DH found it very difficult to keep the peace and not say anything out of turn, but we got through it.

What I'm trying to say, monna, is that none of us are perfect, but we can make the best of what's given to us, and having good friends around us is one of the best ways of coping.

Take care and stay safe, pet. Candle will be lit tonight for you, and remember that Easter is a time of miracles.xx

Thank you everyone for your wisdom and kindness. I can't tell you what it means to be able to come here and not have to keep up the facade of coping and cheerfulness. Almost everyone I know is fighting a battle on several fronts and my problems are miniscule in comparison. I simply cannot unleash my misery on all these brave folk in RL but venting on here is a real safety valve and at least this is a place where people can read, think, "oh, it's her again," and pass on without anyone's feelings being hurt.

Mrs.CD: I could do with a miracle about now.

Anyway. Another day and and the old " Chin up. Titus out," attitude has prevailed.
In addition to boiling t eatowels you will be glad to know that several other major projects have been completed, including de-limescaling the loos, every last bit of washing done and dried, (ironing is today's treat) and at least one box of toys/rubbish been sorted and a mysterious bin bag has been disposed of by the kindly gunmen, if you get my drift..
Oh, my goodness! Our local refuse collectors aren't really armed to the teeth. The IOW may be pretty rebellious but we truly don't send out Council employees with bulging holsters. BINMEN, tablet, BINMEN.

I give up. Time for breakfast.

I'm now imagining our binmen going by, hanging off the sides of the lorry, bristling with guns and with cutlasses between their teeth :D Thanks Monnagran (and your tablet) for that wonderful image! and "Chin up! Titus out!" makes me chuckle every time :D

I'm doing my bit, there's a load of towels in the WM as I type, and I'm about to put the hoover round.

Oh, the topside....it was a bit tough :( I must have cooked it wrong, though I did follow Jamie Oliver's instructions, having looked at all my cookbooks. I gave it 20 minutes at gas mark 9, then turned it down to 4 for an hour. It only weighed 450 grams, but I wanted it well done. If I ever pluck up courage to try topside again I'll try Delia's recipe - she recommends marinading it for 12 hours first.

I'm away for a couple of days and Monnagran has hired gunmen, a storm has hit and Ivyleaf has cooked topsoil a la Jamie. I can't leave you lot alone.

Hugs Monnagran. Your boiling of teatowels reminded me of the cartoon here... https://buildingapoem.wordpress.com/2016/01/28/the-thing-about-existential-dread/
Keeping busys the only thing I can suggest that I find helps. But the gunmen... a step too far ;)

Glad your DD is feeling better Ivyleaf.

We had visitors for a couple of days and had a lovely time. So lovely that they stayed an extra 2 meals than usual, so I was glad I had enough in the freezer to arrange that!

I promise you Mar, you really, really don't need a tablet. It's surreal reading back what you thought you'd written and finding out what it has morphed into. Gobbledygook usually.

Stick to jelly babies, they're safer.

So glad you are all here, you make me laugh. Thank you!

Busy day today, met some friends after work for dinner and a catch up then headed over the hill to collect a bathroom cabinet from a Freegler that will be ideal for DDs flat, she's getting there slowly.

I had advertised a stereo system on Freegle (tried to sell it but no-one wants them any more) but someone just starting out with a home of their own has now got it, I dropped it off on my way home. Two happy people with something for free, not always a bad world.

Just finished watching This Farming Life, a great programme and one of the farms is very near here, I'll miss it when it ends.
