what an absolutely gorgeous spring day, the sun is cracking the flags, my garden is a suntrap. I have taken the covers off the benches. Onward and upward. Will be putting second early spuds in the ground at the weekend, I will be on holiday soon and want to get it done. The best time of the year and just around the corner :D

pollyanna, it is an expensive cooker, you will have a shock but I do all sorts in it. It cooks my oatmeal for breakfast, I have it on a timer for 6.30 and it will stay warm after that. I used to have the bigger one but it was too big after dh died, so dd has it and is bouncing for joy as meals are ready for when she comes home from work. I have the 3c size, after dh died, trying to think of a balanced meal was impossible, so I bunged rice in it, veg and a piece of fish and that is what I had day after day, alternating with popping tinned beans into the rice and veg.

It is a zojirushi and I did my research. Just the cooking of rice was not enough. My first main meal for two was rice/sour cherries/kale with some tinned beans added. It was amazing and I didn`t hesitate to buy another as soon as I knew that food would be a problem, not wanting ready meals from supermarkets. I used to do lovely poached dried fruit when dh was alive and lots of other foods

Even now, I have sweet potato and a bit of broccoli in the fridge, so am thinking that tomorrow I will have oatmeal for breakfast, with some frozen blackcurrants cooked in it and a rice/veg meal and probably fish, haven`t had much fish lately, so it will be used twice

kittie that's not expensive they are over £400 in Japan. DS promised me one when he got a good job.

After ordering DS a Nint*ndo DS yesterday off the bay of E I should not be ordering again already. I did have £400 in P*ypal yesterday not any more. Glad it took this in US$ as am earning more $ on surveys at the moment than £. I claimed all my survey money for the past year at the end of January. Still some yet to arrive.

I have decided that I am going back to vim for bathroom cleaning. I was looking at the singing dancing sprays and tbh nothing is as good as old fashioned vim, or ajax. A rubber glove and an old scrubbing sponge works wonders in getting the toilet to sparkle and vim makes cleaning the wash basin a pleasure. I am not buying any more fancy cleaners for the bathroom, the sellers are so clever in sucking us in. I am saying that because I had excellent results cleaning two toilets today, much better than those squeeze under the rim liquids

So if the turmeric works, we'll all have yellow teeth, but we'll be quite supple :D

This is a serious warning to anyone who has dental implants with a temporary bridge/tooth. I had work done and had a vegetable curry for my first meal after, thinking it wouldn't be too chewy and be generally good for me. The curry makers use authentic ingredients including the turmeric tubers. Well! The following day my front teeth were fluourescent, almost like a lime green marker pen, and had to be redone straight away. The permanent porcelain ones don't stain so readily, but for a long time I just added turmeric to smoothies and drank with a straw

Indeed. Hubby has invisalign and even though he cleans his teeth after eating, it does stain the plastic trays. Fortunately they're replaced every 2 weeks so it never gets too obvious.

Ok, so 25th April is in my diary and so far it's three of us, Floss, NurseMaggie and moi. Any more takers?

Y ou haven't lost me HH but I have just lost a beautifully crafted post. Holding the accursed tablet in one hand and tapping away one painful letter at a time with the other means that when things slip other things get wiped, and I burst into noisy sobs.

Briefly, life is trundling on and I am staggering along after it trying to catch up.
Today DIL and I are going to collect my mother's day present which is some sort of cold frame. I am very excited.
I also have to buy some new bras as DIL has made derogatory comments about my shape now I have lost 2 and 1/2 stones and am still using my fat upholstery.

    It's all go.

I'm very interested in the turmeric posts but realise that my already dingey teeth (thanks a lot mum) can't take any further yellowing.

starlings!!! should have known being in murmuration country. I have bitten the bullet re my bird feeders and bird food. I bought lots and I mean lots of various feeds in bulk, having had hundreds of assorted birds to feed at my last house. Plus costco, fat balls in bulk as someone recommended them. All I get here are starlings and lately 20 odd sitting in a row along the fence and more in the apple trees, they bully any little birds trying to feed and what a mess!! bird poop!! . I bought guardian cages of all types but these funny starlings hang on the wire and still get their beaks inside

7.30 am this morning was decisive time. All existing food is going to dd who has a normal bird population, will save them a lot of money. All fat feeders are going too. One last chance, I have moved the feeders up a tier and further away, onto gravel and have ordered black sunflower seeds as starlings cannot eat them but other birds love them. Am keeping niger seeds and niger feeder as starlings have no interest. So am in now after cleaning all bird poo possible, using parrot cage spray, water and a brush and my hall is once again full of stuff for someone else

Had oatmeal this morning at 6.30 and a rumbling hungry tum at 9.30. Doh. Got to make granola soon but need a mug of tea and am just watching three determined starlings, sitting and watching me

A friend of mine had a lovely dovecot in her garden - a special gift from her husband. All went well for a while and then she saw the state of her roof - it was absolutely covered in guano and had to be specially cleaned. After the dovecot was removed!

The granola is granola and a half. Smells amazing and I have just packed it. I did 9 vac packs, each for 3 small portions and kept another 3 portions out. Yum yum, having, to me, a lovely light tea at 5. Stewed apple and defrosted raspberries, granola and almond milk. That then is it, next meal is breakfast at 6.30. My stomach is used to that long gap and I sleep all through the night

I started to make granola from the cranks era, maybe even from their book, haven`t looked to see. Those granolas were heavily grain based. The one I have just made is a good paleo or vegan recipe with a nice bit of crunch. I used what I had in ie almonds, hazels and brazils, previously vac packed coconut flakes, sour cherries, cranberries and chia seeds, coconut oil and maple syrup, vanilla extract. Didn`t line the tin and no sticky problem. Left in the oven a bit when oven was switched off

My sd leven is going to have to go in the fridge overnight, I am shattered, also did a fair bit of algae removal spraying. Work does not stop
