I joined d`action about 10 years ago and that involved taking a pinprick of blood and getting it analysed for D3. The first result came back showing that D3 was low, around 20, when the optimum is 40-60. So I had to increase D3 until I reached the best intake for me. I stabilised my intake at 5000 units a day and have been taking this amount for 8 years. I do believe that this is why I never get winter SAD and why I have energy. To go with D3 I make sure my calcium intake is good and do this mainly via almonds. I have eaten 6 almonds a day for many many years, must be > 30. I buy them in bulk and vac them for store. To eat them, I always soak them overnight and then dehydrate and freeze and just take them out of the freezer. To go with the D3 and calcium, I use a rebounder for impact exercise, this encourages my bones to remain strong, whilst protecting my joints
Interesting chat about food yesterday. I have been looking at ayurveda for a while now and found an ayurvedic breakfast that does not involve a lot of fuss. Oats don`t fill me up for long enough. Called kitchari and I found a simple recipe, which is cooking now. 1/2c rice. 1/2c moong dal,1 tsp turmeric, little salt. I don`t have moong dal so am using lentils and basmati and have halved the ingredients. I like dal anyway so this would be an interesting change for me and offers a perfect opportunity to get turmeric into me0 -
oh yum. This is a very very nice breakfast. Was so easy, I just brought it to the boil, simmered on low with the lid on, stirred after 10 minutes and left it alone for another 20 minutes+ . It is mild and satisfying in the mouth and is going on my daily list0

Sitting here reading all the healthy food stuff, drinking a small glass of red and chewing on a piece of truffle salami. I'll be frying some zucchini fritters later too, but I'll feel a twinge of guilt, so never let it be said I'm immune to good advice.:D
My biological father has died, but no sympathy please, for various reasons of his doing we weren't close, but I am left with unresolved anger towards him and some still living members of his family. The serenity to accept the things I can't change is one of the hardest things to come by.
Still, the grocery world today rewarded me with 5 kilos of apples for $1 and 9 bananas and 7 soft avocados for $1.50. I also found a 1.7kg ham for $8 and 2 half price packs of pork mince. I take 4000iu of vit D3 a day and have done for a few years. There is no way people living in Scotland get enough natural sunlight.
I can't remember the last time I had a cold - but saying that, I rarely go out into shops or buses etc and up here I don't see anybody much at all. When I meet 2 neighbours in the street at the same time we think it's a mob:D0 -
We had a traffic jam yesterday Mar.... the milk lorry was late and got stuck behind the bus at the bus stop0

Softstuff, have you considered writing down your feelings in a letter, then burning it? I've found that helps.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Thanks Floss, I gave that a go previously (I think I've mentioned the situation previously and wonder if it was you that gave me the kind advice ). I'm just a generally curious person who has a problem with unanswered questions and hates people being wrongfully judged (I can't even watch a movie showing someone wrongfully accused). And this whole saga.... I just can't file it away or let it go.
On another note, the foodie kind, I've been using turmeric recently since I like the taste, it's easy to put in juices and I wondered if it might help with my joint pain. So far no action on the pain, but hubby actually commented I seem more like myself mentally and the timing coincides. Plus it makes a mean addition to an apple, beetroot, kale and ginger juice.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I am giving up part of an era this week. Wine making and I was good at it, making 5 gals at a time but time to let it go and with nostalgia. Sigh. Son in law is having it all, the whole lot, I have warned him to prepare enough space
. This ending of eras is actually quite hard, it signifies life changes and getting older but best to go with the flow and anyway is always nice to pass things on so they continue to be used. Funny thing this being 20 in my head but a couple of years to 70 in my body.

I take vit d every day too since an ms nurse told me that the numbers of ms increase the further north you go! There is a connection apparently, since, like Mar said, you don't get enough from sunlight.2025 Fashion on the ration

I too take Vit D and so far (fingers crossed) have not had a cold this Winter. I take immune suppressant medication as I have Crohns Disease (and an op removing some of my gut - TMI!) so that is good. I also take Kelp and omega oils. It is interesting some of you having issues with fibre. I am lucky regarding eating most things and being a vegetarian need to keep an eye on sufficient quality protein but was advised that that bran prevented absorption of some vitamins. How do you take the Tumeric Softstuff apart from juice?0
