Pops
It is good to see you again :j
Mrs VP
So sorry about your ankle and hope you recover quickly and well.
DH has just hinted strongly for apple and blackberry crumble tonight so will start that before going out to look at dresses etc later.
With a cooked breakfast every day, a couple of snacks, cooked lunch and dinner with as high cal stuff as I can find for him - he still has only put on a couple of pounds.

Softstuff, I know what you mean about recycling, I'm sure there could be an easy solution on the bulbs...The old you put in with rubbish. I think they were ok being added to glass boxes in recycling but the new having mercury and all that has complicated matters(bet some still put them in with the normal rubbish)
Managed to pull a full wheelie bin onto "My" foot the other day(well big toe)I didn't get off scot free but luckily the trainers protected me quite a bit.
I sometimes get gout now!!! I thought that went with rich expensive food. My old consultant didn't offer anything for it but the new one has. Oh and after 17 yrs and because the pharmacy did a check on the drugs I take for my illnesses my Dr has now prescribed a daily Vitamin C/D tablet. Bit late now if the damage has been done. I was told they are quite pleasant to take but I don't like them."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Not to make this thread miserable but a friend I have(special needs)has spent over 6 weeks in hospital was rushed in and whilst there had two heart attacks
Was sedated for almost 4 wks and it was touch and go for awhile. Totally unexpected but he's home again. Could still need an op.
On the other hand one of Mum's remaining Brother(he's 83)I discovered he had a heart attack in late January and had to have stents installed. He's lost confidence, stays indoors, cries a lot(depression?)but as if that wasn't enough, he told me on the phone a few days ago they are going to test him for Alzheimer's. Talk about bad news and a run of bad luck. Doesn't do to look to look too far ahead."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Hello Pops. Its great to see you back posting.:j Sorry to hear you now suffer from gout. My late OH also developed it so I have some idea of how painful it can be. Glad you got some medication for it.
Wish I could have long sleeps - I'm lucky if I manage 3 hours per night.
Ouch Mrs VP. Sorry to hear bout broken ankle but glad Mr. VP there to help today.
I have no upper body strength either. When I fall (which is quite often) it is a real struggle to get back up.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Ouch Mrs V P, Sofftstuff is right you need to put your foot up for a few days. If they told you to rest at the hospital they mean in bed or sat down with your foot up. Take advantage of Mr VP being there for a couple of days. They won't give you a heel to be weight bearing until they can see signs of bone growing on an X-ray.0

Ouch Mrs VP. I hope you are resting and have a speedy recovery.
So far I've managed to avoid breaking an ankle by spraining them an awful lot instead. I did it once on holiday when we had rented a flat on the second floor. I ended up with carpet burns in places I don't want to mention from going up and down the stairs on my bottom. Thankfully I was only on crutches for a week.0 -
Pops, Himself has suffered from gout for many years, and like AOT I can see how painful it is, almost crippling at it's peak.
Himself takes mediction each day, but also has 2 small glasses of cherry juice morning and night and this seems to be keeping it at bay with the medication.
You have my sympathy, you might want to give it a try

Seems colder today, can't get warm. Will stay in...boring, all about the budget but I'm having a good rant on Twitter :rotfl:Its horrible if you " fall" and have to try and get up again."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
