Glad to see that you are still around Pops.
With regards to recycling lightbulbs. I work for H!meb!se and we have a recyling facilities for lightbulbs, batteries and certain water filters. I expect that other branches have them as well.0 -
Thanks TR and Mrs L, interesting about the light bulbs especially possibly the new long life ones because the nearest place for taking used bulbs is too far away(expensive to get to)so if a shop would take them in that would help a lot."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Hi Pops! Lovely to "see" you0

Thanks Popperwell! I checked where my nearest H*meb*se was and it is about six miles away. I think I could get there via about 3 buses each way. It would take best part of a day too. I see you feel the same. They are making a world we cannot join in, without a car.
Popperwell I am new while you have not been around but welcome back. I feel I know you as I have read all the thread. I thought I was the only one who did these long sleeps. 26 hours is the longest I have slept without waking up. Is not good for the old arthritis sleeping that long.0 -
Floss
It was a Phase Eight and gorgeous while only available online at the time and I had not realised they came in neat IYKWIM. I looked like a sausage that had split its skin
Hello All (pops head above fence from lurkdom)
Elona, have you tried Just Last Season? They have an online shop and shops at outlets. I bought a lovely dress at the weekend from their store in Cheshire Oaks which was reduced from £159 to £19. It is Jacques Vert and although black it is very nice and a good fit.0 -
Pops it is lovely to see you on here again. Welcome back.
SDG31000 good news on the tv. I received a £25 gift voucher from Tosco after letting them know that one of their recipes wrong and by following it the motor burnt out in my mixer. This covers the price of the mixer and the ingredients.
I had a fall yesterday and broke my ankle. I have discovered that I have very little upper body strength and I look like Bambi when I try to use the crutches. I am non weight bearing until I go to the Fracture Clinic next week. I am hoping that they will give me a walking boot then which should make things easier. Feeling very sore today.:(I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

I think the weather and temperature is getting to me a bit here Pops, but at the other end of the scale. We're supposed to be into autumn by now here, but it's unseasonably hot. I followed up my long nap with takeaway for dinner and am about to get an early night.
MrsVP! So sorry to hear about your ankle. You need to be more focused on sitting down with that foot up, not so much on getting about with crutches.
I don't know why, given that in England there are 67 different boxes for different household recycling, that they can't let you put bulbs in one of those. Something I enjoy in Australia is only having 3 bins, a rubbish bin, a recycling bin and an optional garden waste bin. All recycling goes in together.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -

No it doesn't help(and thanks for the welcome)Its an old bug bear with me(poor public transport)the others here know that. For many places a car is a necessity. OK if you have a friend with a car but its taxis for me and soon the cost adds up(or you stay in and look at four walls)Sounds like you are a little like like me...you pace yourself. Do too much "You pay for it later" If I am allowed I am thinking of investing in one of those mobility scooters in case I become worse. Would be good for local shopping on the town but if I can keep my bus pass that still makes sense for long journeys.Mrs_Veg_Plot wrote: »Pops it is lovely to see you on here again. Welcome back.

I won't change the context by omitting some of your post(I'm careful)but I don't want to repost something not relevant. Sorry to hear of your accident.
My upper body strength seems to be weaker too and the other day I realised just how difficult it is to get back up from the floor, if I do attempt to go to the floor for some reason. I was clearing the last of Mum's clothes to take to the charity shop in a shopping trolley. Someone talked to me and said how much I appeared to be struggling(we're only talking a couple of streets)
Can you believe its another of those check ups at the hospital on Thursday again. Different consultant now. The original one retired."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
