Oh ginny, good for your DS sticking to his principles!

May he shortly find just the right job, where he will be properly appreciated xx
  • Ginny I do hope your son gets to work somewhere he will be valued and be able to equally respect management in return . You must be so proud of him not bowing to what appears to be the new norm for many employers . I wish him well we need more like him .

  • Rotten luck for your DS GINNY, but 11 out of 10 to him for standing by his principles. Hope he finds something with much better working conditions very quickly.

Every time Docky writes I have some sympathy for both of my son's teachers because I still can't read dyslexia. Then I remember how badly they were treated because none of them believed in dyslexia and refused to acknowledge their statements. They just treated them as very naughty. I got the same treatment too.

Ginny wishing your DS all the best in finding a new job. Good on him for standing up for his principles.

  • Nurse maggie . The damage that is done by ignorance , lack of resources or plain can't be bothered is so damaging mentally that it impacts for life . I wish it were different and some progress has been made but it is so hit and miss as you will be well aware .I hope things improve for you and your family and really crossing everything for your son to be given his chance .

Nursemaggie: when I hear of children being written off like your boys were I want to go and punch noses. I have had so many children who had difficulties in their early days and blossomed later on. That's one of the reasons I started my own school. Sometimes the only thing we had to do to allow children to flourish was to remove all the pressure and just let them be.
One little girl came to us with a real school phobia. She was very artistic and once we gave her the freedom to express this there was no holding her. She is now a fashion designer. Oh. the stories I could tell you.
One of my young friends didn't learn to read until he was 11. He is now Dr. monna's friend and is head of a huge and very successful academy. Even those who didn't shine academically went on to make good and happy lives for themselves.
One day I will write that book!

Of course the one I completely failed was a certain lurcher of happy memory. However i understand that he is now giving the cherubim and seraphim above the bright blue sky a run for their money.
I still get his messages in his own very individual language sent down to me from the celestial heights.

    Lucky me!

Ah ginny, that's rotten for your DS. What a star though sticking up for what he believes is right. Hope he finds something soon where he will be valued.

My brother introduces me as 'my slightly eccentric sister'. He, my SIL and children are very materialistic and have always had the latest toys and gadgets. My 3 were brought up to enjoy the outdoors (we had 2 dogs and a country park on our doorstep) and seem to value what they have much more. I love my brother and family dearly but couldn't keep up with their way of life.

Ginny I'm really sorry. Redundancy is just awful. May a new job flutter at his feet soon and that it be better than the one left behind.

Im not commenting on schooling at the moment. Eldest is off curriculum timetable till May in order to revise for SATs tests. A bright and conscientious kid is slowly resenting school. Too annoyed to keep my tongue so best stop now.

DS is dyslexic and even to this day his mam calls him 'thick and uninterested' he's not, he's very intelligent, totally switched on and knows his field and how to manage like the back of his hand. What he does have problems with is memory... bless him ( and his wife :D )

I am watching youngest closely. Just this weeks latest installment surrounds the issue of getting on the bus from swimming to find she didn't have her skirt on... she forgot. She's nearly 8. School say no as she's a superb reader... i just shut up, roll my eyes and internally mutter "aye, so is DH"
