I was born in 1953 and it's not on mine, but in any case the format of NHS numbers changed some while back - I know mine was originally METR 336 but these days it's a series of numbers.
When I worked at the Social Security office I did notice that children's birth certs came back from the Child Benefit Centre with their National Insurance Number pencilled lightly on the back.0 -
How I wish I had the means to make a video. This afternoon my 3yearold DGD and I were in my bedroom doing the Lambeth Walk, (don't ask) when the dog, who is the biggest, ugliest, stupidest dog you can imagine, though greatly loved, decided to join in. She was on her back legs waving her 'arms' in the air and trying to kick a leg out when we shouted, " HOY!" It was hilarious but had to be stopped as it was getting a bit dangerous, she is really VERY big. And very, very loopy.
Hope you are OK Kittie.

Well DS is 22 on Sunday I got the day wrong so by the time he was born 1994 they were putting it on. I have mine on stuff from the Christie Hospital along with my hospital number so we know where both of ours are.
You have so many numbers you need to keep these days I beginning to wonder if we should have a book to keep them all in. I have one for passwords. They say don't write them down but how do you keep hundreds which you ought to be changing every six months. I can't see how a book you keep yourself where no one else goes and that never leaves the house can get into the wrong hands.0 -
We all have imaginations Monna I imagined it was Scoobie Doo. That's the biggest loopiest dog I know of. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0

Nursemaggie - my DGD will be 22 on Saturday! Must have been a good yearSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Very similar, nursemaggie, only uglier and clumsier.
When my DIL and her son found her in the rescue centre they took her out for a walk. In her words she didn't take a dog for a walk she took a kite. The dog was so excited about being out that she was airborne. Her son said that they absolutely had to have her, they couldn't possibly leave her there. DIL said rather bitterly that it was OK for him. He was just about to go off to Uni and leave her with this loony dog.
She took the dog to obedience classes. It wasn't an unqualified success. After the second session the trainer took her aside, returned her money, told her that this was an untrainable dog and wished her luck.
She is also the most loving dog I have known. She has been DGDs best friend and gallant protector since the baby came home. Since then it is quite common to find small girl fast asleep with her head pillowed on dog's not inconsiderable stomach.
Life here is not boring.

Many years ago my hubby bred weimaraner's, one day he couldn't find his youngest son, who would have been about 1 year old. Eventually the child was found asleep in the dogs bed with the latest litter of puppies, mother dog was licking him clean along with her litter.Chin up, Titus out.0

Dogs are just lovely... hand fulls but lovely. These days we put oir attention into our house rabbit who is not without mischief. She can often be found in my recycling bag. Why? searching for dried fruit oackets to lick. Such fun
I inadvertently learned a few lessons yesterday. thr first was not to be lazy about whipping double cream. The food processor turns it to butter and buttermilk in a blink of an eye! cream lost but onto the second lesson.
True, fresh buttermilk was the most beautifully naturally sweet ingrediant I have ever tasted. What on earth goes on to make the soured 'buttermilk' from the supermarket. Are they supposed to be the same? They are polar opposites. Secondly butter from cream is so lovely even to a salted palette. I am seriously thinking about going down this route for butter and 'sweetner' in baking from buttermilk. Much researching to do and I do relise this way won't be as cheap as bough butter or using sugar but I am on a mission to really get righr back to scratch with everything.0 -
fuddle I believe buttermilk is supposed to be brilliant for making scones. Your rabbit sounds lovely
Loved reading about the dogs, especially the Lambeth Walk :rotfl: My sister-in-law's dog has also been designated as untrainable. She is the oddest-looking dog I've ever seen - a mongrel, with clownish sort of eyebrows, and her mouth is definitely a St Bernard's (they're in Southern Germany, near Austria, so St Bernards are less uncommon there.). She is very loving, but completely disobedient0 -
Little House dog will quite happily spend her time on her back playing pat-a-cake with you ....moving her feet in time to the rhyme ....
Youngest son was always missing ...found either asleep in dogs bed or on dog ....or even after a 20min search when he was about 5 , panic , in the chicken house covered in happy chickens .....£223/ £250 GC0
