I hope everyone's okay this morning. More srong winds due during today.
Last night we heard the longest roll of thunder we'd ever experienced. I'd expected wind and rain, but somehow hadn't expected thunder and lightning too!
I was meant to have a dental checkup this morning, but have had to reschedule as I've caught OH's cold. Don't fancy sneezing with a mouthful of instruments....
LYN We've had a couple of cats who would curl up to sleep on any paper they saw lying around, even if it was a till receipt0 -
PHEW! When I said that it sounded as though the wind was trying to rip the roof off I wasn't too far off the mark. We live in one half off a converted stone barn (not as glamorous as it sounds) and one of the horrendous gusts tore all the other half's ridge tiles off and hurled a lot of them into our garden, damaging a large barbecue, a plastic swing and so on. DS 2 is inspecting our roof as I type as he thinks some tiles may have slipped. I have come back to bed with my toast and coffee and am watching the man in the house opposite us who I'd up on his roof with a big glue gun thingy sticking down his tiles.
DS2 is oiling his chainsaw. We don't have many really big trees around here but I don't think many of them would have survived.
I thought I might see something interesting on the news nut although I can get the initial information, no programmes.. In a minute I will go downstairs and fetch my radio.

Thunder & lightning here last night along with the winds. High winds again today Monna with the worst around midday. Will slacken off late this evening & back to normal tomorrow. Hope you and hours are all OK.
As a child I lived about 20 yards from the sea and I still love rough weather and crashing waves ................as long as I'm safe and warm & watching it!
Just crossed with your post Monna - hope no damage to your house xxSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I'm due to have a crown fitted this morning - will mean being out and about 10-1. Not sure whether this is such a good idea, but should call them soon if it isn't...0

Don't know what it is like round your way greenbee but no1one is moving here unless they have to. We have ordinary gales and rain atm but all the houses round us seem to have some damage. Above the wind and rain all you can hear is the sound of frantic hammering. Next door is particularly bad - ridge tiles smashed through the roof of their conservatory, some of them are perched halfway down the roof poised to fly off in the next gust, probably into our garden.
To make matters worse they spend every winter in South Africa so the neighbour the other side has to phone them with the bad news.
Still no TV as it is Skid (you know what i mean) and there is no satellite signal.
Possibly been interrupted by flying ridge tiles.

Part of the fun logging on of a morning is seeing what monna has been up to in the night.
Scary noises at night for you all and I can only imagine the extra stress if you own and are financially responsible for your home. Monna small mercies in that you have DS to help maintain eh? I hope Little 3 year old slept through it all and wasn't concerned.
Greenbee stay safe, it's the trees I worry about but at least they aren't in full leaf. Maybe less of a risk.
Lyn bless that cat who inadvertently (have I pronounced that right?) had more of cultured experience than intended. If technology is so clever why does it get it so wrong?!
MIL gave me cod yesterday so ill be pan frying for my lunch and making fish fingers for the kiddlers. I am also going to be making shepherds pie and hoping to freeze a portion of it for over soill of DH's lunches. Some evenings there isn't enough for a 5th portion to be put aside for him to take the next day so he buys things. He has lidl next to the depot so he keeps costs down but he's not really eating healthily... and I have a sneaky suspicion (and have I spelt that right? What is wrong with me today!) that he's having that lovely hazlenut chocolate that cost 49p and that makes me jealous. :rotfl:0 -
Fuddle:!,!!!!! Excuse me? Perhaps you would like to re-phrase your first sentence. I've never been so incinerated.

Y'know we should really, really not have let Monna natter to Hester, the potential for hair raising posts in the aftermath of that is the size of a whole herd of elephants!!! Good job we're mainly unshockable any longer isn't it petal?0 -
Oh dear monna, glad you're ok, but at least you have someone who can help fix the roof.
I don't like the wind either, especially when it sounds like a train going over the roof.
Hope everyone is staying safe. x2025 Fashion on the ration

Are you implying that Monna has corrupted Hester?0
