Monna - many similarities - although my ex isn't being housed by the state he is in very poor health. The nasty side of my nature gives thanks that I don't have to look after him but as we all know we dont know what's round the corner for any of us in life.
Indulgence/treat - hmm not sure there's much difference, although I think a treat is something small whereas an indulgence is somewhat larger/ more expensive. For me a treat is a cuppa in bed on a miserable day, something tasty & homemade but my indulgence at the moment is my little boat - not necessary but gives great pleasure (at times!) & DH has his trike that he's spent hours building - but do these also come under hobbies???
For me, it's my OH making me a cup of tea without being asked0 -
Just lost a long post. Blithering tablet!
Candlelight: Like you I don't wear make up as such but not having much to offer the public in the looks department I think it incumbent upon e to smell nice.
Thank you for saying that I sound more upbeat. I am getting better although I still feel like a displaced person. There are dark days still when all I want to do is to stay in bed with my head under the pillow, sobbing and my emotions are always just under the surface. But Hey! Thank God for a sense of humour.
I will get up in a minute and brave the gales for a walk along the beach. I am truly blessed to live in such a beautiful spot.

Softstuff: I'm not up yet (sheer indulgence after a lifetime of being up and doing by 6.00am) but I am lying here thinking of potatoes roasted in Vick. The trendy restaurants would go for it.

I'd be surprised if Heston hadn't already tried it... the burning sensation would be part of the dish "experience ".
When I think of vicks I think of a saucy book I read years ago... Jilly Cooper or some such, where the leading lady stuck a bit up his bum during a naughty scene. He found it a bit of a thrill, but I suspect in real life a chap would have to be pulled out of the ceiling he'd shot head first through.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Softstuff, I thought you were referring to me there and that reminded me of when my ex used Deep Heat on his dangly bits thinking it would add to the thrill!!Chin up, Titus out.0

I was just relieved that I smelt it before the coupling began, at least I didn't have to share his pain!Chin up, Titus out.0

Good to see that this threads cultural and educational qualities are being maintained. Hester, behave!
Had a positive day today. Walked to the library to see if they needed any volunteers. They didn't but asked me to go to one of their Story and Rhyme sessions for children . Then the kindly lady who seemed to be in charge took me into a back room where about a dozen people were busy crocheting, quilting, patchworking Tec. They meet every week to sew, chat and drink a cuppa. Right up my street. They are going to see if the library will let them squeeze another table in for me.. I have also discovered that the Lifeboat Station is always looking for volunteers to man their shop, get involved with fund raising Tec. (sorry, etcetera.) So I have made my first step into joining the world again. It had to happen.
