We love goose fat roasties so I may well give it a go. It pains me to discard. I use the stock in my gravy but the fat sits in my fridge for a few days and then goes to the realms of binlinerdom.
Polly I like moss stitchI've a few squares done now. I like it because it sits flat with neat edges. Ive decided to keep on with basic squares until I can finish 2 without a mistake. I have a habit of trying to walk before I can crawl. I dont think it's concentration polly, i think it's stubborn auld mule not letting it beat me. Apparantly my face is a picture when knitting.:cool::rotfl:

Got tons of the white stuff up here, Sainsbugs supposed to come to me tomorrow but they won't get up this road, it's pure white and drifted.
Was so bored today that I cleaned the kitchen!!!0 -
Dear Fuddle,
I am quite sure that your face is always a picture petal. My family indulge in unseemly mirth when I am following a pattern or counting stitches, apparently my lips move when I am reciting the pattern silently to myself. Fortunately I don't mind being being weird.
Well done on getting your tax return done burtha. My DIL was doing my DS's this week and the language was ripe. She reckons she must be the only person in the world who OVERstates an income because she thinks that they would never believe how little he earns.

I use chicken fat when making yorkshire puddings. I also use it to saute veg for chicken soup. You can use it to make savoury pastry or dumplings as someone else said. It is sometimes called Schmaltz0

Well, you lot didn't quite make it in time for the party. So I'm blaming you all for not keeping an eye on my alcohol consumption. Thus resulting in my spending today a tad under the weather. Not to worry though, if any of you do show up late, there's still plenty of food and drink left. I won't be joining you in the drink though, going to have a dry February. Maybe a dry March too....
Fuddle, I used chicken fat to fry off veggies for soup. Or also when making chicken rice.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
I couldn't get online until really late yesterday as I had browser problems, I also have a stinking cold so my brain isn't firing on all cylinders, no tittering in the back row about my usual lack of brain power!
I bit the bullet on Thursday, I composed and sent a detailed letter to my ex telling him that I'm going to chase what I'm due. I've offered to accept £48000 if he agrees to settle out of court, if not I'll go through a solicitor and go after 3 times that amount.
I had a meeting with HR at work to explain what I've done & why and also that there may be some unpleasant phone calls and emails flying around.
I decided I couldn't carry on struggling financially just because he is a spiteful bully.
Several things have changed since my divorce, the law has changed with regards to ex wives being allowed to go back for a second bite of the cherry, although the judge left the award open as she could tell he'd hidden a lot of his assets, also my ex has changed accountants and his new one won't allow him to break the law like the last one did.
Lets hope I manage to reclaim some of what I'm due!Chin up, Titus out.0 -
HHH - good for you! Do hope you get what's owed to you. I hope now your ex knows you're prepared to fight he'll pay up.
When I divorced in the early 70's the married women's property laws wer'n't in effect so I lost out big time with 2 under 5's. Still I'm too bldy minded and hauled myself up. DH2 & I have been together 42 years now (catching you up Mardy)
Sorry we were late Softstuff - hope your 'nedache' as DGD calls them goes quickly.
Grey rainy day here so a little light cleaning may be the order of the day
Have a good day all xSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
A question!
I'm very much aware of late that although we all are trying to be frugal, watch the pennies and stretch what we have to it's limits to have a better life I'm constantly coming across the words 'I bought a ..... it's a little treat' in posts. I'm not for a second suggesting that a treat is a bad thing but it seems to be creeping into life as if we need treats to make up for all the other things we do without and treats which become the everyday normal cost a great deal of money. So the question I ask is 'When does having the odd treat stop being that and turn into an indulgence we feel entitled to?'. I'm not free from this myself and if something that is not a necessity is reduced enough it sometimes comes home for us to enjoy. When we were children a treat was just that something that happened so rarely that it was special rather than being something to have every time we want one, thoughts?0 -
