I WANT SOME SNOW!!! I'm sorry to shout but we have only had 4 frosty, scrape-the-car-windscreen mornings so far this winter and today is brilliant sunshine, clear blue skies and singing birdies. I know I shouldn't moan, but I do love a bit of the white stuff now and again. (no sniggering at the back please!!):j[DFW Nerd club #1142 Proud to be dealing with my debt:TDMP start date April 2012. Hello fencers. Lillibet, can we hold off the snow for a couple of weeks please until my DH is working nearer to home. I'm a worrier you see.
Not a lot happening here today folks but all kinds of weather - sunshine, very windy, hail, rain, sometimes all at once. Fence still up.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Many happy returns to little Zebra :T
and congratulations to mardatha and r.v.. Well done on your golden anniversary :T (kindle decided to call rv 'tv'!) We don't argue first thing because I can't talk for at least an hour after I wake up! Both dds are the same as me, strangely enough.
We have had some hailstones here this afternoon, but it was bright blue skies this morning. Still very windy though.2025 Fashion on the ration

Hi all , don't really fancy a kayak but maybe a hot air balloon would get us there quick the way this wind is blowing..
Have been quickly catching up as have had a busy week , interviewed and hired someone else for the bar, caught up and re stocked food supply, sorted kids with clothing and shoes ( wish they would stop growing ds now takes a shoe size 9  ) , and I have just done my tax return :j
Having a quick sit and chill , working tonight , band night should be good fun .

Fencers I'm just wondering how to put chicken fat to good use. Any ideas?0
-
I must admit I don't use chicken fat for anything else, the thought puts me off. I don't use goose fat either, despite people saying it's the best for roast potatoes.
Oddly though I'm happy to use beef dripping! Perhaps it's because it was what my mum used.0 -
Oh Ivyleaf, beef dripping.
When I was a teenager My dear Dad and I used to have beef dripping on toast for Sunday tea. I always wanted some of the jelly from the bottom of the dish, and we would have a sprinkle of salt on it.
I am 70 now, and I haven't thought of that in years

CANDLELIGHT - That's just raised memories from the 50s and 60s I couldn't eat it now but loved it growing up .
Hope everyone is warm and cosy today has been horrible here.
FUDDLE - Can't help with the chicken fat I gave up eating poultry many years ago . How is the knitting coming along ? I was very impressed by how quickly you mastered moss stitch you must have good concentration skills . Moss and Blackberry stitch are two of my favourite stitches .
Just glanced at the tv and according to the met office another storm is heading in for Monday , oh the joy !

There but for fortune go you and I.0 -
Fuddle I do believe Jewish people use chicken fat with matzoh (not sure of spelling) flour to make dumplings to serve with chicken soup or stew. Or you can use it in roasting potatoes.
Darn pixie inside my IPad decided your name was Cuddle! One life - your life - live it!0
