Happy birthday to Zebra MrsLW, sounds adorable. It doesn't seem like 5 minutes since he arrived, how did he grow up so fast....
Well, here we've had 100mm of rain so far today, severe thunderstorms and general yeuch. I had for weeks been planning a New New Years party, after 2016 got off to a bad start earky in January. It's 6.30pm, we've had 6 cancellations. I have a house full of food and booze. The only likely attendees are my best friends (they'd kayak here if they had to). It seems 2016 is resisting my plans for a reset.
Anyone fancy some lemon paprika beef or Wiltshire leg ham with 6 kinds of salad?? I have beer, white wine, red wine and sparkling wine.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Hang on there Softstuff, I'm struggling into my wellies as we speak. The kayak is waiting at the front door and I should be there on or about June 26.I believe that friends are quiet angels

I'm on my way Softstuff, just need to deal with this blizzard! You will have a lovely time no matter how many are there, just think - more drink and food for you!
Thought it was light when I woke up this morning, that's because it has snowed! It looked quite bright about 8 but has got darker and is now blowing a gale with snowflakes. May have to have a day in.0 -
On my way Softstuff! I've never heard of lemon paprika beef but it sounds gorgeous!
Monna Any chance you could take a slight detour via the Thames estuary to pick me up? I could ride pillion on the kayak?
pollyanna So glad to hear you're feeling better!0 -
Oooh - Party Party Party. Hang on gels - we can sail over Monna. There's room for you, Mrs L and Greenbee. It might take is a little while Softstuff so make sure you save us some!
ETA. Ivy - if you kayak down to me you can join the jolly crew!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Blizzards we can cope with, and we can always borrow mardatha's ark for the rain. Count me in - after a run to burn off the calories. (We've only got a couple of cm's of snow)Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0

Thank you Ivyleaf . I now have a lot of housework to catch up on , a trip to visit Softstuff seems most tempting right now .
Mar did you ever finish knitting the ark ? might be more suitable for present weather conditions .
Mrs LW Zebra sounds such a lovely little boy . I love to see children being brought up in such a lovely way . Well done to his mum and dad and of course yourself and HWK who laid the foundations .
Stay safe today everyone it's not nice out there .
Hope to be back later
Monna you can get off the naughty step now . I knew I'd forgotten something !

OK. I've ordered the limousine version. Don't forget your crash helmets. I'll collect the fares on the journey. Oh, and a small packed lunch might be useful but don't go mad, Softstuff wants us to arrive good and hungry.
MrsLW: how could I have forgotten? Zebra's second birthday! Give him a hug from me when you next see him. What a brilliant idea about having an open house day. Much nicer for the tinies, less overwhelming for the birthday boy and much, much less stressful for the grown-ups. I am going to spread the idea here, thanks.
Thanks Polly. My bum was getting a bit achey. Not to mention the sleepless night.
