nuatha How is your username pronounced? I'd always thought of you as "Noo-a-tha" but I suspect that's wrong. Maybe more like "NWA-da"?

I frequently get the first, I've had something close to the second, I pronounce kin to "no-other", but its Irish Gaelic in origin and, though very rusty, my Gaelic is Hebridean in origin.

I've lived with the name a long time and it does get used at Real Life (tm) gatherings, even by some folk who know my birth name.

I refuse to comment on Softstuff and Hardup Hester's names, I'm a poor innocent male :o

I'll take the innocent part under advisememt.
Glad you enjoy my blog Softstuff.

I do indeed. It's full of good common sense, which seems to be less common than it used to be. I don't comment much, but am an avid follower and think of you often.

Have given up trying to sleep with the noise of this wind. Today is my Golden Wedding anniv, and we have managed (an all-time record) to argue before 6am -even though one of us is in the livingroom on her laptop and the other one (the ratty one) is in bed.
    Ho hum.
  • HAPPY GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY Mar, quite an achievement these days.

Give the RV a good breakfast and hope it improves his mood.

    Congratulations

  • Congratulations Mar, my husband and I never argue this early in the morning, because I refuse to speak to him until after his 3rt cuppa, lol.
Innocent Nuatha, I believe you, thousands wouldn't.
Thanks Softstuff, there is bu££er all common sense being shown by the rest of the family at the moment. Big meeting today with solicitors about MIL's will, so more ructions to follow I'm sure

I wish you luck. I've no advice for dealing with BIL that doesn't involve kicking him in the squishy bits.

Congratulations Mardatha. My present (and final) husband and I argue rarely. He benefits from the fact that my previous husband was so much of a complete tosspot that hubby by comparison does nothing wrong and looks saintly. If ever I am annoyed at Mr Softy, I think of my former husband and calm right down.

We have air conditioning :j I can't describe what a wonderful thing that is. It got to 34 degrees today with 98% relative humidity today, so it could not have come at a better time.

Congratulations Mar. (I think). And well done on celebrating the occasion with a good argument. Why break the habit of fifty years?
Come on! I take it that your D (or not so D) H is a full red blooded man. You know - bristly chinned (tablet had fun with that one), Y chromoson, always knows best, growly in the mornings .......that sort of thing. So did you really expect great excitement, loving speeches, tiny, exquisitely wrapped parcels containing something romantic and expensive, flowers, soft music? And all because you have put up with him for 50 years? Grow up!
Whatever, enjoy your day, you deserve it.

Wow, 50 years, congratulations Mar. I'm sure Hester would say the best part of arguing is to make up!

Blowing a gale here, actually quite scary. I would imagine the roads are flooded so will leave early for work.
  • Happy Anniversary MAR, and congrats on your endurance!!!!!
