Very wise words monna. Mrs LW we have heads and depute heads who have barely taught a class and are now just managers, don't do any teaching and don't really carry any authority to the children. Makes you wonder why they became teachers. Nell will have gained valuable experience for the future.

Strange that your name wasn't recognised mar but knows your details.

This got me wondering - how have you all come about your user names? Some are obvious but others must be quite cryptic.

Just eaten far too much dinner, couldn't help myself as it was so good. Stir fry veg, rice and some very out of date (13 Jan) chorizo. As if that wasn't enough I also had some chocolate!

This is so odd. I forgot my password when I changed to a new computer and had to request a new one. And it says I'm no longer me.. sobsob :(

Does that mean you'll now be Wotsit Mardy?
    Very wise words monna.

Mine is a hangover from years spent on Usenet (and Fidonet before that) when it was fashionable to use mythological names, Nuatha (also spelt Nuada) was a king of the Fair Folk who lost his throne when he lost his hand, since most people seemed to go for the major heroes or villains, nobody seemed to pick the damaged goods, so its been my nym since about 1990. You did ask :)

Sorry but I can't do quotes on my tablet.

Re: usernames. I think I have explained this before but here goes.

Monna was the nearest my autistic grandson could get to saying 'grandma'. It stuck and now all the grandchildren call me Monna, and I am also Monna to all their friends.
Actually, when he was over at Christmas, aged 14, I am pretty sure that I heard him say "Grandma." Oh, you have no idea how much I love that boy.
Obviously I am his gran, hence
    Monnagran.

Mardatha, you could always try Sweetieeater as a prefix? :D

My username comes from my dark and shady past as a !!!!!! actress.

Not really, I just wanted someone to spit tea on the keyboard. I don't remember what I was thinking, it was years ago.

  • I wanted 'Lizzie Dripping' after the 1970's childrens' programme - all my friends and family called me that. But the name was already taken.
The 'lillibet' part was the Queen's nickname was so substited that instead!

Probably should have said, mine is parts of my 3 children's names.

Really interesting hearing how the names came about, thanks.

Mar how about a PM to one of the MSE team or a post on the site help threads? They might be able to guide you or over ride summat so you can feel happier as yourself. Me? I dinnit care as long as it's you. :)

My name was just a reflection of how I felt my mind was at the time of signing up.

Is 11 too old for the tooth fairy? Eldest lost one of her baby teeth tonight. It's probably under her pillow and the tooth fairy will probably swap it for £1. I had teeth extracted at DD's age and never got a tooth fairy visit!

My username is the nickname my dad called me. It's 25 years this March since he died and I think of him saying it everytime I log in.

At least it's not what it could have been if my mum had her wish with naming me Penelope Ann...dad shortened it to Ploppy Ann, hence my given name not being Penelope!

And that sounds like a very lucky escape.

I had teeth extracted at 45 and found a £1 under the pillow, I was smiling about it for days. Simple answer, no.
