What a lot of people having a rough time at the moment. Sending hugs and caring thoughts to all who need them. Sorry I can't remember everyone - bit of brain fog here today, due to 3 days doing a 1.5 hours round trip twice a day. My routine is all to pot.
I'm all for starting the new year on 1st February, but DH has just finished the last piece of Christmas cake and I don't have much in the way of party food left. I can make a virtual one though!
Hope everyone is keeping safe and warm.
I can offer a tin of shortbread and the two bottles of Prosecco we forgot to pick up from the table on our way out to DD1's for Christmas lunch :beer:0 -
With us moving on 5th January I did not stock up on much and due to the tiny kitchen don't think I will ever have stocks again.
I prefer to think the worse that will happen has already happened this year.0 -
I can provide several bottles of wine, some flavoured vodka, flavoured brandy and a btl of schnapps and a btl of a Baileys type drink. Promise I'm not an alcoholic but get some cheap booze when I visit my sis in Prague and the wine was a gift. Stock cupboards are overflowing but what I lack is room for everyone unless we are all super friendly lol0

shanks77 us too I did think of suggesting I hung everyone from hooks in the ceiling. It's where I am telling DS to put things now as we have filled the dresser and the kitchen so that's it for storage.0

Popped up to visit dad yesterday morning. I thought he looked very drawn, very breathless and very pale. Mum tells me he hasn't been able to keep any food down since CHRISTMAS DAY !!!!!!
Long and the short of it is, he went to the drs this morning and was sent straight to A&E:(. He insisted on driving himself there:mad:.
Meanwhile, Mum, nearly 80, had a stroke a while back and can't walk more than 20 yards is insisting that she will get a taxi to the nearest bus station, get the bus into Ipswich, walk around Ipswich getting the last few Christmas presents (our family Christmas get-together is this weekend) and then do the journey in reverse.
I have offered to drive dad to the hospital, offered to take mum shopping, offered to take mum to visit dad but all I get is 'no don't worry dear, we're ok'. I am spitting feathers this afternoon at their stubborness.
Sorry for the rant but I am so angry with the pair of them.:j[DFW Nerd club #1142 Proud to be dealing with my debt:TDMP start date April 2012. Amount £21862:eek:April 2013 = £20414:T April 2014 = £11000 :TApril 2015 = £9500 :T April 2016 = £7200:T

Lillibet I think it is time to be firm with both of them.
The GP certainly wouldn't send your Dad straight to A&E if he wasn't very concerned for his welfare, and if he hasn't been able to keep anything down since Christmas Day clearly he is right to be concerned.
As to your Mum you need to sit her down and explain, calmly, that you want to help and that they need your help. This is taking being independent too far, tell them it is time they started to be sensible about accepting help.
I smiled at you "spitting feathers" my old boss always said that.
Good luck and hugs

Oh dear lillibet dripping I think you are going to have to put your foot down as doing what they say sounds dangerous.
It may be that you have to show your anger to get through to them. Of course it will be all your fault if anything happens to them while doing these things or do you think they just won't go?
Have you any siblings to help? Perhaps it is time to call on them for some firmness. I hope you get somewhere.
I think Softstuff you are right we need to start the new year again but then apart from your pup our problems are left over from last year0 -
It's that generation lilibet. Proud, independent and as stubborn as he'll . No tablet not he'll, HELL.
When my Dad was in hospital on one occasion he was asked if he would like to go into the day room to watch TV. "No thank you," he puffed indignantly, "It's full of old people." He was 94 at the time.
I suppose that no-one wants to admit that they are old and need help. In my mind I am 35 and a sex babe. Did I hear sniggering at the back? In fact my brother gave me a laminated 'old people's' sign bearing the legend, BEWARE. ELDERLY PICKPOCKETS.
Have a look next time you see one of those signs, it's exactly what it looks like.
How did I get on to this subject?
Mind like a butterfly!

My late MIL, though bored and lonely at home, flatly refused to try the Day Centre. "It's full of old people!" She was admittedly only in her 80s.....
lillibet So sorry ((HUGS)) I hope you can persuade them to accept some help.
Monnagran I'll be looking out for the elderly pickpockets next time I pass the local care home :rotfl:0
