Oooh - thanks for that Rainy Days! I'm a Hampshire Hog too!! Yes, Mrs L is out & about at the mo but she & HWK are all OK.
Ivyleaf - there was a TV play called Blue Remembered Hills that was adults playing children. Saw it again at Chichester a few years ago & it was still excellent.

I remember that on TV. Dennis Potter, I think? It was very good, but Flint Street Nativity is much more fun :D

Can you get a shoulder op for arthritis? The pain in my shoulder and arm is sickening and starting to get me down. I was only offered Ibuprofen gel lol

I had that a few years ago after a flu jab which I am sure started it all off. The pain was incredible and it turned out to be frozen shoulder for which I needed several bouts of physio. Worth mentioning to whoever you see at the docs... otherwise it can go on months untreated.

Are you a side sleeper Mar? If so then shoulder pain is much alleviated by hugging a cushion, that and making sure that you have support under your neck, so that there is no pressure on your lower shoulder. Many people cannot sleep on their back, me included and back sleeping can give heartburn . It takes quite a while but it really does eventually reduce the pain a lot. My shoulders, arms and even hands were killing me at one point, throbbing non stop but it is gone now. The pain was waking me several times a night. I also take one valerian pill daily, I took two a day for two weeks while it built up in my body, it is a superb muscle relaxant

mardatha Shoulder operations are not as successful as knees and hips but they do exist. Just in case it is a frozen shoulder try reaching up with your arm and try putting your shoulder joint through all it's movements. If it impossible or extremely painful go see the doctor as soon as you can as it is likely it is.

Whatever it is mar I hope it is not a frozen shoulder they take so long to heal but the Dr will have some treatment to help. Btw Ibuprofen takes a few days to work as it builds up in your bloodstream. The gel needs applying frequently, also needs to build up.

A firm pillow will definitely help a lot but do give it a couple of weeks for it to help. This is one thing that is definitely worth paying for the best. I always find after being away my neck, arm and shoulder joint take up to a couple of weeks to improve. I tend to take my pillow with me when travelling by car.

no, it just relaxes. I thought I would take it to quieten my mind which was busy busy ever since my husband died and because of the busy mind, stress and anxiety, I was waking up at least twice every night, that plus turning over with the awful shoulder/arm pain in both limbs. I have been very pleasantly surprised at how well it has worked, I am now sleeping through and the aches have gone and my mind is more peaceful. There is no drowsiness in me at all, in fact I am not now dozing during the day like I used to because of the poor sleep. Google it as a muscle relaxant
  • I think Mrs LW is in Berlin having fun!

I like the sound of the film ivyleaf, will have to see if I can find it.

Well, that's me on holiday for 2 weeks. Finished at 2.30, went and bought logs (traffic horrendous), came home to sort washing and put some on, delivered some presents, cleaned the house from top to bottom, put more washing on, had some tea, had a much needed shower just in time for the shopping delivery. He was early and asked if he should wait! Anyway it was all heavy stuff, long life milk, fresh fruit juice, mixers and pop. All put away now.

Off down south tomorrow to visit relatives and friends before christmas, usually have to do the trip between christmas and new year but having this coming week off means I can get it all done early and enjoy the rest of the holiday at home.

Really mild weather here, it's warmer than some of the days we had in the summer!

What a lot has been going on...in case everyone disappears here's hoping you all have a lovely Christmas doing what you wish be it with loved ones or on your own. It can be a lonely time for some, others find that they are able to get through it OK.

Its gone quiet with my neighbour(is that good or bad?)no complaints about drains or the noise I supposedly make.

I have cleared room in the fridge for some Christmas treats. Fancy stuffing, roast potatoes and carrots and parsnips)I have fresh vegetables that I think will last until the big day but I can use between now and December 25th(my five vegetable choices)only cost me £1.95. I'll get some salad in. I have a small ham joint and some sliced meats. I may get some mince pies, sausage rolls etc...

I have decided against going over the top as I am out for Christmas lunch and tea, I may be given some food to bring home(which see me OK for Boxing Day)but if not I have a supermarket a couple of streets away which opens on Boxing Day.

I can't leave town though as there are no buses or trains and I refuse to pay £30(return fare for a taxi)to neighbouring towns for sales. They run a Sunday bus service the day after Boxing Day.

As I haven't been out this week and I have paced myself I am going out for a small supermarket shop at 7am, and look for some small Christmas gifts and extra cards. And hopefully that's me finished with shops until next weekend.

    I'll have a little New Year's buffet...for one(me)and buy what I need a few day's before.

Not going to go over the top. The Music Club is not taking a break so will get out at least one night each week between now and the New Year. Also my usual Sundays with friends will happen.

But I am not going to the social club's Boxing Day evening and New Year's Eve nights(the tickets are reasonable)but the cost of taxi's and drinks etc...make it very expensive. So I will stay home. I'll be OK.

I am thinking of getting another small slow cooker. I'm a big fan and if you use them correctly you can do some quick meals/keep food warm.

Tonight I am thinking of chicken casserole for my meal.

Mum had Frozen shoulder for quite some time and it was really, really painful. So I hope that comes right for you soon Mar its horrible. And of course having arthritis I know only too well how painful joints can be. I'm taking painkillers before I go out today and hope that they'll work.

I hope to be back soon but I have to get dressed and shaved and be away soon.
