Sorry to hear your news Floss. There is never a 'good' time.

Bit of housework here today and a carol concert later. DH has just let me know he's broken the screen on his phone, so there's an unexpected expense.
Spend less now, work less later.

Agree with you Greenbee - our bits are much nicer and nearer the sea! Don't worry - hav'n't got my tree up yet either! Will do it today though. Good to catch up in the new year when MrsL is back from her travels etc & you are not on yours!

Tree is now up and decorated. House is a tip and I need to sort it out.

I have rashly invited numerous neighbours round for drinks on Tuesday so need to a. have the place looking less like a building site and more like a home and b. work out what on earth to give them. I'm thinking that if I put bicarb and water in the slow cooker for a few hours it will clean it enough to make mulled wine. I can do a non-alcoholic mulled fruit punch in my thermal bag. If I'm feeling energetic I'll see whether the oven will cooperate and make some nibbles. If not, they'll get crisps and pretzels and live with it...

Am travelling for the last 2 weeks in Jan - not Hawaii, or Mexico or the Caribbean as requested. Nope. I get to go to Canada. In winter.

ooh... just had a though... Thriftwizard - do you ever come across old tablecloths? My dining table has finally had the missing leaf replaced (with plywood...) and all my cloths are now too small. I know you're decluttering, so thought I'd ask before spending hours trying to track something down  Plus you're not that far from me ...

Thank you all for your kindness.

Mar, that's almost exactly what I said when we got the call, that the purpose had gone from FiL's life. He was MiLs carer until he had a major stoke in June, and had only been at home for 4weeks since then, going back into hospital just after her death in October.
