When I first started to cook (going out with DH) I decided to cook chicken in wine. I did not sear the chicken and it was red wine
It was edible but coloured bright flamingo pink! Apart from asking "Is it meant to be that colour?" and my replying unblushingly "Yes"
We ate it.
I made a fruit sorbet that froze so hard I had to chisel it out of the tin. My first loaf could have been used as a doorstop - even the birds did not want it.
Have you tried making stews in a slowcooker?"This site is addictive!"

Hi Mardatha. My Mam used to chop potatoes and onions into small cubes and fry them until almost soft, then add a tin of chopped corned beef to heat through. Haven't had it for years but very tasty!
I sometimes make a frittata with leftover cooked veg. Just lightly fry any veg then add beaten eggs and cook on low until set. Don't stir too much or you will get scrambled eggs! You can also do this in a greased Pyrex dish in the oven and top it with cheese.
Mini jacket potatoes with sour cream dip are a nice change too.:)2025 Fashion on the ration

One of my presents from OH was a lovely big mug, with on one side the words "Women and cats will do as they please" and on the other side "Men and dogs will just have to get used to the idea".
