Nursemaggie - if you have some spare emulsion thats lighter than the dark walls use that first and save your magnolia for the topcoats. Pleased you've been able to get the paperwork done - hope it will give you a bit of respite.
Mardatha - what a pooey day for you. Hope you're tucked up warm & dry now.
MrsL - Ahhhhhh - what a lovely picture your memory paints. My Pushkin also loves the snow - after all she is Russian!! I'm glad we don't get it down here too often though.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

nursemaggie one colour is a great idea and you can make each room look different if you want by using coloured accessories and bet no one will notice all the walls are the same. And if they do? Their problem not yours. I'm sure your place will look great xx

Congratulations on the new flat nurse maggie, our decorator used Leyland trade paint on our living room, it covered really well :)

    :hello: Waves to kidcat :)

Maggie I'm so glad DS was better today and you were able to get the paint - I came onto the thread just before going to bed and was going to ask how he was, then saw your post.

    Hello fencers.

All the walls in our house are the same cream colour but each room is colourful because of the soft furnishings and accessories. Much easier when you need to repaint a grubby mark.

Having a lazy afternoon here. About to walk the dogs and then settle down with a magazine.

Hope you're all having a great day.

Anyone originating from liverpool might like this link

Our house was in a small side street off this lane and I lived there until I was 21. Our playground was that lane and the surrounding streets and bomb sites

it is picture 248, you just click on the top picture to scan through

That was real poverty and no safety nets but growing up there in such a community made us real survivors, we were hardy, aspirational and strong and all of us siblings, now in our 60s+ are healthy and cheerful beings. What I am saying is that out of hardship can come inner strength, you either survive or you go under

Yes it is quite nostalgic looking through, I remember so many of those shops, the astoria picture house. Brings it home how tough it was for parents to keep their children fed, clean and clothed. There was a pub on every corner and I saw the wash house which had baths in it. I remember it was a constant battle with cockroaches and mice. If we brought a boyfriend home we used to stamp the floor hard before switching the light on, it would make the cockroaches run out of sight

At least we didn`t have drugs and we had never heard of pedphiles
  • Nursemaggie..Im with all the posters saying one colour paint is okay , I always think colour all rooms magnolia to start with and live in your new place at least 6 months with that colour and get a feel for the home first, then change colour if you cant live with magnolia......

Ive always been a cream colour person in the home and to me it always look fresh and spacious and light, I just accessorize with a bit of colour for the cushions ....

The weather has been so damp , grey , and dismal this past week , im not very good with out sunshine and its not helping my SAD at all ,, ive had some lovely wood and beach walks with the dawg that helps lift me up a bit ....
Ive now got 110 hens in total , I just love looking after the gals , couldnt imagine the garden with out them , plus I now have a huge canopy on top of them to stop them and the ground getting muddy , and I have 7 foot hedge all the way round so they dont get rain blowing in , no cockeral cos I dont want to upset anyone , I sell all of the eggs locally to everyone is happy.........

I sit here in front of my beautiful log fire , its not really cold but it cheers me up to watch the flames and plus the dawg is in his basket near the hearth , damn dawg is spoilt rotten ...Catch you all later ....Sheila
My motto is " one life live it ".....:)
