Nursemaggie....I hope your move go smoothly for you , you never know there maybe a chance that a gas line runs by your new house and perhaps at a later date you can be GCH.......I personally detest storage heaters , but they will be better than nothing........
Fuddle .....Your also moving home , hope that also goes well for you and the family , will you be in before christmas ?.....
Ive done my christmas shopping , I went in to next and bought all the gift vouchers , everyone in the family likes Next so it made sense to do that , plus Next have their boxing day start to the sales so they will have double for their money.......So christmas is done for me in 10 mins ....
Weve got a lot of wind tonight , well weve had it all day , Ive been outside today and took the net off of the pond and netted all the duck weed , then cut the grass , id rather be outside in the garden than out christmas shopping , its all too much hype for me ........
I hope your all having a restful , peaceful weekend....SheilaMy motto is " one life live it ".....:)0 -
chickens - where do you live that you can cut the grass in December? The grass here is disappearing under water, I'll have to start growing rice soon!0

Sheila It is council flat though they are run by housing associations these days. I am not allowed to do those sort of alterations. Apparently when these flat were built in the late 50s they did not allow gas in blocks over a certain size. There are only 18 flats just 3 stories and we are on the ground floor. The block is on its own surrounded by terraced streets so they will all have gas as there was not much electricity about when they were all built.
I don't like storage radiators myself but "needs must", better than being homeless in a few weeks.0 -
Nursemaggie, - great news about the flat. I hope you'll be really happy there.
Well a bit of a wasted week here due to illness and I even had to ask for help in cleaning the living room and putting up the Christmas tree. So gold star for DD and her boyfriend. They also helped with dog walking.
Beginning to feel a bit better now and beginning to eat again, so will go back to work tomorrow. Yes, I've not even been able to work even though I work from home.
Anyway, the fence (which DH did the temporary job on, couldn't do permanent as the wind has just not abated) came down again in bits yesterday, so I now have the nightmare of trying to keep two dogs in the garden, and the prospect of a bigger bill before Christmas to get it fixed now if its beyond two new posts and cement.
On a positive note, I feel happier as I feel better, and all but one of my Christmas presents have been purchased and delivered.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
So glad you're feeling better jazee
I hope everyone's all right after all the wind and rain :eek:0 -
Just popped in and found good news for Nurse Maggie :j that's excellent news. As you know my Mum lives not far from you in one of those blocks and is all electric with storage heaters - tbh as there are no draughts and its insulated you really wont use much power and the storage heaters work well. I'm so pleased you can move slowly and turn it into your little palace before hand.
Had a very difficult few months but we have come out the otherside and I'm still standing - hubby not so much standing but got through. Waiting for test results and further surgery for him but he isn't panicking which is a change.
Baby Bethany is the cheekiest madam at 2 months old and I think we are going to be busy with this one too. Dgs is doing ok except the problems we had affected him badly but he too has come through it and is fine now.
Getting ready slowly for Christmas as we lost so much income due to the cuts but I will not be defeated :j Hubby decided we were not having Christmas but is coming round to it now.
I found broccoli growing in my garden planters :T smileyt gave me some seedlings which she thought were cabbage but obviously some were not. I am so chuffed as I have never grown it before. Still have leeks, spinach and a couple of straggly cabbages ( they are a first too) plenty for a couple or more meals.
Hugs to all xxClearing the junk to travel light

I will get my caravan0 -
Yaaay ginny - it's the wee things like that keep you going eh0

Love the idea of surprise broccoli Ginnyknit. Sorry to hear you've had a tough time, but glad you're getting through it.
I hope everyone is surviving the floods. Haven't been able to speak to mum, but managed to get her friend. Although they're above water, they're without power for a while and no shops or so forth. Mum probably has enough food until 2019, so I reckon she'll be ok
It seems like Christmas party time has kicked in here and I'm going to throw myself into it with a vengeance. Free Christmas party at the hardware store tomorrow, Christmas drinks at a relatives on Saturday and Christmas dinner at a friends on Sunday. Though I haven't done a tree, cake, mince pies or anything else, I do have wine, so I feel I've prepared enough :rotfl:Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Oh Ginnyknit, we must be living parallel lives veg-wise! I have broccoli that I knew of, and a couple of dodgy cabbages, but seedlings that I thought to be broccoli of some sort turned out to be cauliflowers! Mind you, they are only the size of golf balls at the moment, hope they grow a bit before the slugs get them! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0

ginnyknit How wonderful to see you safely back after such a difficult time :j
Love the idea of surprise veg :T
Just been watching news coverage of the flooding. I feel so sad for the people who've been caught up in itand very lucky not to be one of them.
OH has rummaged in the box room and unearthed the box of Christmas bits and pieces. He already has a Lego Advent calendar on the side table by the sofa, and I put my foot down against having Christmassy Lego all over the place, so we have a Lego Christmas tree and a Christmas scene on the bookcase; other things (thankfully not Lego) are a little church which you put a tealight into so it looks as if the lights are on, a Christmas candle which is supposed to be an Advent calendar (you're meant to burn a bit of it each day in December, but it doesn't burn evenly) and a pretty little silvery thing where you put a tealight in the base and the heat makes a sort of carousel with snowflakes revolve, rather like a mobile. The hasn't left much room for our little tree and Stable, but I'm sure we'll fit them on somehow
So, all small things, which are easy to put out and easy to put away again0
