Great news NurseMaggie! Work out how long you can afford to pay for both places, bearing in mind you have the redecoration to pay for, and that will mean you and DS have a deadline. And remind him he needs to help... ;)

Most importantly, make sure you give it a thorough clean before you move in!

Freecycle can be good for getting hold of paint - even if they aren't the colours you want, neutrals can be used as undercoat so you are painting your final colour onto clear walls.
  • Well that's such good news for a grey and dready afternoon, I'm so very pleased for you both NURSEMAGGIE and wish you the happiest for your lovely and warm new home! well done!!!

Don't have to pay for decorating we get a voucher for £100 of decorating materials. It's not too bad nice wallpaper on one wall in living room it just has rather dark wall colours and workmen have removed all picture hooks and not done a very good job of filling so will paint white or magnolia and make it lighter.

Thank you everyone for your good wishes. The flat is lovely. Two good sized bedrooms. A reasonable sized living room, the kitchen is small but not as small as the one here and of course it is warm not like this ice box. Best bit for me is the the bathroom has a walk in shower because I have not been able to get out of a bath for over 20 years because of my arthritis.

We get the keys on Monday and DS says we will move in at our leisure as it is better for me to pay an extra months rent than to end up in hospital with a stroke or a heart attack because my blood pressure is sky high. We have decided to decorate it before we move in. It will be easier to do it before the carpets go down. Being only two minutes away we can go there anytime we like.

DS just went upstairs to book tickets for us to go see the new Star Wars to celebrate.

Brilliant news nursemaggie it's been a long time coming. Enjoy the process without a worry now. So pleased you like it and can feel settled :)

So pleased for you, nursemaggie. I am sure you will make the storage heating system work for you by planning washing during cheap rate electricity hours. Another reason to celebrate Christmas!
