I can see there need to be safeguards Nursemaggie to make sure those in most need take priority but it does seem a very convoluted process. Just hope you and DS get somewhere good for both of you very soon as you must be feeling so stressed by it all.

I should never, ever get fancy in the kitchen. I was trying today to make carmelised onions. Nose buried in a book, I reached into the cupboard for sugar to sprinkle on them, grabbed a pinch and chucked it on the frying onions. Then noticed a smell of coffee..... WRONG CANISTER lol

Well, Sainbury's keep exhorting us to put a bit of coffee in our spag bol, so why not in caramelised onions :D I really don't fancy putting it in bolognese though, can't see the point.

  • Oh Mardather you are so like me when it comes to cooking ha ha , I detest cooking and now that im on my own I do quick food for myself , cant be ar**d to spend hours in the kitchen , if I have to choose between cooking and house cleaning the house wins every time .....

Well this weather is still so mild and sunny , cant believe ive only had the heating on about half hour in the morning and same tea time ish , house is keeping lovely at about 19 degrees .....

Ive been helping my neighbour put a PVC canopy over the hens to stop this damn mud for the winter , I love getting outside and doing that type of thing , tomorrow ive got to sort extra nesting boxes out , so I will go secondhand furniture shop and pick up sum old drawers from old chests what I know he will have laying out back and bring them home and fix them in their house for laying in ......

Im sick of all the christmas adverts on tv already , its far too early for all that , and what a waste of money , ive never broke myself over christmas and I definitely dont intend to this year , its all too much for lots of people , I will do what I do every year and thats put some dosh in christmas cards for the family , its better than spending couple days shopping in high streets and buying gifts that no one really wants ...
Well the nights are so long and dark now and I normally suffer from SAD syndrome but im not doing too bad so far , im keeping myself very busy and make sure I have couple walks down the beach every day with the dog .......I hope your all doing okay and keeping well , Sheila

Mmmm, that sounds interesting Mardatha! Funny how some flavours just don't go together. I personally don't like 'drink' in my food such as sherry trifle, prefer to keep them as food and drink.

Had a letter today to say that my breast screen was satisfactory so feeling relieved - hadn't thought otherwise but always a relief.

I think I may have to swap the car for a boat, we have had so much rain and more forecast for the weekend. The stair carpet should be fitted on Saturday so the house should feel warmer again - next door must be fed up of me clumping up and down.

I like your style Chickens, I love the idea of the hens having drawers to nest in, it sounds so cosy.
