Oh Mardather , so your all gummy now ?, what a time youve had with it all then , you do sound down in the mouth pun intended !!..Im having flu jab tomorrow and then ive got diabetic appointment on Friday morn at 9 at the hospital , so I will have to leave home at 7.30 to make it, at least I get a parking place getting there early ......
Then im going into NEXT to get the gift vouchers for christmas , and thats all the xmas shopping im doing , I cant be ars*d with walking round shops alday buying crap for people that they dont want , so I give them vouchers and they can buy what they like , job done....
I never spend much on xmas , I never did when my boys were small , but I always got them a sackful of cheaper items , and they do the same now with their children , cant see any point in spending £ 300/400 on children ......
Im not tight , but careful as ive never had much money when the boys were young so its made me appreciate money .....
The forecast was warmer today but it feels cold to me and ive got me fire a light and its lovely , catch you all later ...SheilaMy motto is " one life live it ".....:)0 -
I went into Newcastle to finish off some of the Christmas bits and bobs and I loved standing outside Fenwick's shop windows looking at all that hard work into turning it into the most amazing beautiful shop display!
Then I happened to wander into the The White Company - looked at a lovely jumper and kind of expect it to be about £120.00 - nope it was £249.00  since when has a jumper ever been worth £249.00, thats roughly what i pay for fully comp on my car insurance for the year!
I think I am turning into Scrooge!
Oh and I am already having Black Friday emails appearing in my inbox as well!! Grrr I shall sit and have a cup of tea Friday morning watching the mayhem ensue on the News :mad:Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

No you're not RAINEY I wandered into TKM*x last week and bearing in mind that they're supposed to be 60% less than full price found a jumper for a 2 year old reduced in their sale to £24.99p!!!!! Eeeeeekkkk, when did jumpers for babies cost that much in a sale? and how much must they have been full price? .......it's still there you'll be pleased to hear!0

Rainy-Days I made a loud screech, just as the blue hair went up, at that price. Even if I use the best quality yarn I could knit ten for that twenty for a little less quality.
Lyn I would never pay more than a fiver for a babies jumper. They are not in them for long. I could knit one for about £1 but I would pay a bit more and it would still last through several babies. It only takes about 100g of yarn up to a year and then it gradually goes up a bit each year until you are using 200g by the time they are five. I knit hats and mittens with what is left.
There's a lot of folks around with more money than sense.
:grouphug: hears a big hug from us all Mar if you are still feeling rotten.0 -
It is this one

I bet they would not paid more than maybe £10.00 each or probably even less for them from the manufacturer! Thats one hell of a mark up! I know they have overheads, but £249.00
Nursemaggie - you are so right! I would not have bought it at £120.00 so it being double that they have not got a hope. Best of it is, in the light grey one, it is sold out in most sizes onlinesomethings wrong somewhere no wonder people are in so much debt!

Morning All - same as Shanks, lurking but not posting as not much happening.Hoping you get some positive news very soon Nursemaggie.
I'm getting Black Friday emails too but it will pass me by as all my lot will be getting a small gift & Dosh for Christmas.
Was looking for a cotton jumper for DS1 online and was baulking at £25!!! I need to feel the quality first anyway.
Cuppa going cold & a trip to the tip needed so off I go & have a good day all.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Elder DD has asked for "a big cushion with a cosy cover" for her Christmas. Not faux fur, she'd like fleece. She also said "only token presents" (i.e. a cheap present) so that should be an interesting search! Primark had nothing suitable, so I'll try Matalan.0

Quelle Surprise :think::think::think:
What was I saying yesterday - about prices being stupid. It's makes me wonder sometimes if Journo's in Canary Wharf are not reading these blummin comments and squirrelling up articles on the back of it !
See what you think

Its my friends 44 th birthday today and she as invited me out tonight with her and her family for a chinese meal at the restaurant , the only thing I eat !!!!!! is their chicken and chips , so im quite looking forward to going, ive just had bath and hair wash and will be out at 6.15........
