Mrs LW such a difficult decision to make but in the end you know when the time is right. Never easy but remember you have friends on here whenever you need and a lot of us know what you are going thru. Wags and licks to Dockyard from my fur face xx
Sheila well done on the weight loss that's a fantastic start just keep it up and if u have any of that willpower going spare first dibs on it please. Mum does the 5:2 diet and swears by it I didn't do so well on it myself but seems to be very popular.
Nutty hope DD is ok and that Buddy is too. Chicken?? Don't tell my one about that or he will be asking for it too lol.
Only one day of my hols left so will make the most of it. Hugs to anyone who needs them xx

    Big hugs Lyn - X

Nutty - we have a wonky one currently, little Miss Stilty is currently a good half inch adrift leg length wise, maybe more, but her physio says that people grown unevenly and she should even out! Hope your DD is ok.

Well speech all written now and fairly well practiced, Miss Stilty (bless her heart) asked at bedtime if it was Thursday tomorrow - she is so excited! Personally I'm glad it's not Thursday tomorrow as I also have an essay due so need to write a good couple of thousand words tomorrow and get it submitted. I could be panicking but as I've got the grade I need already so only need another pass so I'm not.

Picked up a few more bits for the sensory garden in B & M today - a couple of strings of solar powered fairy lights which look fab now it's dark and a cart wheel - I assume it's supposed to be decorative but we're going to mount it on the fence so it can be spun - and a big bunch of cast iron keys to hang off the fence which are lovely and clunky. It's slow going as it all costs but we are trying to do it as low cost as possible - if you go with the things which actually call themselves sensory, they cost an utter bomb, so we are being creative!

Got Master Stilty the cutest little boiler suit so we can strip the muddy outer layer at the back door so he doesn't track it into the house, and he has had a lovely afternoon out in the garden - outdoors really is his natural environment, however cold. It looked lovely today, beautiful sunshine and quite warm for the first bit but out of the sun and outside for a while it started to get quite cool.

    Take care all - Hx

Hugs MrsLW and a smooch for Docky.

Taking a day off today. Nearly had a half day rather than a full day yesterday, but went to speak to someone who got me so irate I went straight back to the flat and painted another 9 litres onto the ceiling :rotfl: Needless to say, I'm feeling the exertion today. That said, I've boiled some eggs, made a broccoli and cauli cheese, made a large pan of veggie soup, some iced tea, done the ironing, cleaned.... you get the idea :o

Things are progressing well, bathroom is all done (barring a little clean), kitchen is done (barring a little clean), ceilings are plastered, bedroom ceiling is fully painted, rest of the flat has had 1 coat so needs another and the walls are all prepped and ready for painting.

My energy levels are less than they used to be when I was younger, but it seems my plastering and filling has improved with age! And needless to say, 20 years on from the first room I ever decorated, I've learned a few tricks on the way.

We're still discovering things that are odd or don't work in the new house. TV aerial was the last thing. Chances are when we get a chance to investigate further it'll be like the phone socket... a blank box on the wall not wired in.

Sheila, I did the 5:2 for a year and lost about a stone and a half. Stopped when I was in hospital because I couldn't take painkillers on an empty stomach. Will get back to it soon. For me it was the easiest thing ever, I can put off cake until tomorrow, I just can't put it off for good :rotfl:

Nutty, rather a lot of people have different leg lengths, myself and hubby included! Hope she gets some pain relief soon (wondering if she'll get orthotics, if she does let me know and I'll tell you where to get good shoes rather than medical looking ones).

Love to anyone else I missed, my visits here are a bit sporadic right now.

Thinking of you all Lyn xx

stilty What would you like to do after your degree? :)

softstuff I'm glad to hear you're having a day off. You could certainly do with one!

Monnagran How are you? I hope you're starting to feel a bit better xx

OH has dentist this morning to have impressions done for his latest crown, and my chiropodist is coming this afternoon. Exciting day *rolls eyes* but at least it's not stressful. We do have some stressful stuff going on to do with OH's health that I haven't mentioned on here yet. Will wait until we know more.

moneyistooshorttomention It is mainly the discs in our spines that shrink they are made of a spongy sort of material and gravity sort of squashes them.

That would not make any difference to the length of your legs. I think the reason why you have had to shorten them is petite is now 5ft 4in and under and not 5ft 2in and under and all corresponding sizes have gone up 2 inches. I now find I can only buy trousers from Bonm*rche as they are the only place that still does 25 inside leg. Average trousers need about 8 inches off the leg and that alters the shape of trousers.

Also the crotch is too low or as my dad would have put it. "Are they a bit tight under your arms?"

Went to Mr M yesterday and with all your talk of sweets I bought a bag of jelly babies. I will be putting weight back on if I do that too often.

    Hi Fencers,
    Lyn, hugs from me too.x

    Good luck Stiltwalker for tomorrow.

Blowing a gale here today. I have lived here in central Scotland for 25+ years and I have never been so desperate for Spring. I do see the mornings and nights lighter and it really was not a too cold a Winter either, but I want to hang my washing outside please!

Hope Miss NuttyP gets on ok with her scan.

Well done Softstuff you have worked hard.
  • I've just made next weeks meal plan and tried to put things in that mean I don't have to buy much in. I think all I'll need to get is some eggs, cheese, milk and salad the rest is already in the freezer or storecupboard. It's a nice feeling being well stocked up isn't it?

Afternoon all - lunch break here - 1440 words in (of 2500) so well on my way. Will be nothing old style doing here today, in between essay writing and paediatrician appointment for the kids after school so will be easy stuff for tea.

Ivyleaf - not actually sure what I'm going to do with it - I'm doing Childhood and youth studies as the original idea was to go with something school hours termtime based once the kids went to school as going back to running tearooms wasn't going to be a good fit (weekends and school hols being my busiest times, I'd never see them!) But as the children's level of disability has become apparent we spend so much time on that I'd need the world's most understanding employer on a good day and bribe them with something to be as flexible and take as much time off as I'd need to! So it's kind of wait and see what happens. At the moment though it is being very useful in my forum work - I find having an overview from a practitioner point of view very useful in focusing efforts on winnable issues and working from the point of view of being another professional rather than just ranting and some insider info can be very useful if the LA is ever being less than transparent, not even deliberately sometimes they just don't realise that parents haven't been told things or don't understand the way certain processes work. I suspect I may eventually end up in a family support role, whether public sector or third sector I don't know.
  • HELEN use your degree and your background experience of having a dad who was involved with youngsters with learning dissabilities and your own personal experience of living with your amazing stiltletts to write, write for schools, write for parents who are in the same position, write for the social workers who have to deal but perhaps don't fully grasp, write for council departments and funding organisations to enlighten them to the realities of having very special youngsters to help make the best of their lives but most of all write for the small ones themselves, make their lives richer by writing FOR them not just about them!

Stilty It sounds as if it was a great choice of course in your circumstances as they are at the moment. Who knows where it may lead one day? You'll be looking back in years to come and thinking "Wow, who'd have ever thought I'd end up doing that? (Whatever "that" may turn out to be, IYSWIM :D )

My DD1 did a similar course at a local Uni and loved it. She can't really work full-time as she's her husband's carer, but she has worked in pre-schools and currently helps run a toddler group. She's amazing with small children, especially the shy ones as she was shy herself.
