Thought I would have a look at the reply page but it looks OK. They are not too large when posted.
I think nutty was back at work today so she won't have time to paint the fence. I guess it falls to a couple of us retirees.0 -
I woke up this morning at 4.50 with a vivid dream and just couldn't get back to sleep after so I'm up, cooking Dockys dinners for the week and having an early cuppa. It looks to be frosty outside but might just be a heavy dew, I'm not going out to see though. Have the hairdresser this morning and a vet check for Docky this afternoon, his tumour is very large now and is growing back very close to his eye socket, not giving him problems and he's leaving it alone but we will just check it out to be certain. As long as he's not in any discomfort and enjoying his life we'll keep him as active and happy as we can but I think the time might not be too far away when we have to think very carefully about what's fair for him. I know lots of you are as fond of his little hairy self as are we but I guess all things and beings have a finite time and we'll make any decisions for him and not for us.0

Good morning fellow fencers, just been speaking to my brother in France and he said on Sunday last it was 23c, lucky blighter and yesterday it was 19c. and there's me thinking that 10c was the beginiing of a heat wave here
:):)
Baking to do this morning to fill DDs cake tins for her.The boys can eat their weight in cake at times when they come in from school
Quiz night tonight so I don't have to cook dinner as it comes with the price of the quiz.Nice fun night out for a couple of quid :)and a night off from cooking for me,win-win I think.
NSD today though which is good.I am slowly working my way through the freezer ,but I swear it seems to multiply in there the minute my backs turned:):)I may dig around to see what I can find for tomorrow later.
I'm sure I have some salmon in there and I have a lime at the bottom of the fridge that needs using up, so salmon with a lime and corriander dressing sounds OK to me.I also want to make some carrot soup today,as I have lots of lentils in store I will bung some of them in as well to use it up and thicken it as well.
Right time for a cuppa ,have a good day chums whatever you are doing

Ginny we all shrink as we get older some of us more than others. mine is due to arthritis in my spine and osteoporosis. I used to be just a smidgin below 5 ft.
Can I ask why that is please? We still presumably have the same amount of bone length so to say, so this puzzles me rather?
My second question being that I seem to have shrunk a bit myself (judging by how I'm having to take up trousers etc again when they were the right length as far as I was concerned). I'm guessing I've lost around 2" in height for no reason I can see. With that, I'm not quite sure what weight I should be. I know exactly what weight I should be according to my normal height (on the height and weight tables there used to be). My medium build and previous height (ie 5'4") mean I should be 8.5 stones weight. As its 4 lbs more weight per extra inch of height, then I am still counting myself as "due to weigh 8.5 stones" (which I have yet to get back to...its a work in progress). Now that I would appear to be 2" shorter, then I am wondering if I am being over-generous in my allowance and should knock 8 lbs off that and basically regard my correct weight as 8 stones now instead? Does anyone know the answer to that?
I'm just rather assuming that "nothing can have gone missing" from my body so to say, but maybe its just distributed itself a bit differently and therefore still keeping my "should be" weight the same.0 -
You lose a bit of bone mass as you get older, and you have less of the cells that make new bone cells ( osteoclasts, I think they are called ). Some people find they develop a bit of a humpback posture as they age, which can make them seem shorter. Smoking, and having to be on long term steroids for whatever reason, also damages bones. And being female post-menopause. In fact, just getting older! One life - your life - live it!0

I've never smoked or taken steroids - so it isn't that. Guessing its those bone cells then?
I did have 40 fits when I spotted myself sideways in a mirror the other day, as I've always felt my shoulders were a bit too rounded for my liking, but they looked awful and I promptly decided I need to pay a bit (lot!) more attention to my posture. Repeats to myself "Chest top widened/head being pulled up by a string like a puppet/backside tucked in" and hope I can "train myself" back to normal on that.0 -

Evening fencers. Hope everyone is ok. I had a day at the paid stuff where I actually completed everything off my to do list for today and sorted some bits that have been hanging around since November, so feeling quite pleased with myself although the projects never end.
Just had tea and thought I'd have a bit of a catch up on here before settling down with tea, fudge and the telly.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
MrsL just read your post about Docky - I do hope it will be a good while before you have to make any decision but whenever it happens Docky has had the best caring & loving home he could have. We all know our furry friends can't be with us as long as we would like but to have their trust and more is to be treasured.
Jazee Well done on the list completion - I do love a list
Chickens Well done to you too for sticking to the diet - I'm on a 5:2 today but have been so busy I've not felt hungry or even thought of food! I find it much easier to do it on a day when I've got a lot to do.
Have a good evening allSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
