Hope the op went well Ivyleaf, more storms mardatha, round here it appears we had lots of lightening overnight...at 6am it was torrential rain and was that way at 9am but I made my mind up I was still going out as the weather would probably improve which it did. I would go later. I dried my washing, had breakfast and went to bed for a further rest.

You will realise Jazee, this meant it was too wet to garden. My goiing back to bed resulted in me oversleeping and to be honest it wasn't good sleep. I was in pain and achy and it was though I had been drugged. I awoke after 1pm so missed the event I planned to go to and was too late to go to the music concert on my own town. So I'll see how it goes tomorrow.

There is a tower in Durham Cathedral but I understand there is also a lift. One day I must see if I can get up there and see the views. Tell us how you got on :)

I will have a chicken salad later perhaps some fruit too. When its cooler(assuming its not raining)I'll do some light gardening then. When dusk see if I can work around where the bees are again.

Its not as if I can put the lawn feed on the areas where I have grass or weed killer as it has to be reasonably dry and at best only a small amount of rain. Also TBH I need to strim the lawns again but they need to dry out again.

I didn't see my change of plans coming that's for sure.

  • Hope you enjoyed the church event Jazee and got into the tower. I just knew it would be wet this morning as it was our church fair!
Our tower was open as well but the day was disappointing as we did not have many visitors all round. Of course now its fine, warm and DRY !!!!
What a shame you missed your events Pops. Sometimes our plans do go awry don't they? At least I know mine do. I did once climb to the top of Durham Cathedral tower. But that was when I was a lot younger - and a lot lighter! :D
Hope your operation went well Ivyleaf.

ivyleaf I know you will know by now but I do not remember any pain when I had four moles removed 22 years ago.

Those good a maths will probably notice that would be when I was expecting DS. I found a lump during pregnancy was nothing I still have it but when I saw the specialist he removed four moles there and then just in case. I did not have to go back. They do leave a scar but after a year or two only you will be able to see them they are very tiny.

I've done the Durham Cathedral Tower Climb as well, pre-arthritis, it was a good challenge. I don't think there is a lift, or if there is, it's a fairly recent addition. Someone who collapsed up on the tower roof a few years back had to be airlifted off by the Air Ambulance.

I loved it up there, great views across the city and surrounding mining villages, but having got to the top and thinking 'Cor, glad it's no further..', I was shamed by a woman c. 20 years older who bounced out onto the roof, not out of breath in the slightest.

I've just used, broken and reviewed a food mini - chopper I got sent as a freebie, luckily I was offered four different choppers and thought, what the hell, I'll give them all a go.
I also got a drum grater which was, er, great. I did feel bad giving the mini-chopper a three star review but I believe in honesty.

Thanks for the good wishes - all done and dusted by 12.15! The worst bit was having the local anaesthetic put in, because it stung. I did have some S0lpadeine when we got home, which made me doze off and wake feeling probably like you did when you woke, Pops! So sorry your day didn't go to plan - I hope tomorrow will be better.

mcculloch What a good thing you had more than one chopper to try!

Thought my fridge needing turning up because of the hot weather and have managed to freeze my salad stuff:mad: Turned it back down again. Possibly too late. I've set up a washing line in the garden and purchased my first clothes line pole.

Decades since I had a proper line in the garden. As I said a lot of my washing is light, can be done by hand or it takes weeks to have enough for a wash load. I may save some money not running the washer/dryer as often? Use them more in the Winter. Either way its another option.

I cleared the garden some more too.

Hopefully tomorrow will be better as everyone says. Sorry about the fair AOT.

mcculloch29, The chopper. What a nuisance but good there were others to fall back on. Durham Cathedral, if I'm having a good day I may give it a go to say "I did it!" I overheard someone say they were going "Up the Tower!" and were going to use the lift. They could've been wrong. I have to admit, I was unaware of a lift being installed. Could you do that in such a building? Would it be allowed?

Well I got to the top of the tower, a little more out of breath though than in past years. I feel ok now, we'll see how achy I feel tomorrow! I always feel a little panicky climbing up the circular stone steps, its very enclosed and there are 40 steps all different heights which only take you to the first level. There are two more climbs after that, but worth it for the views.

Spent some time in the greenhouse this morning while it was raining and spent the afternoon relaxing in the garden catching up with this week's newspapers.

Glad the procedure went well Ivy.

    'See you all tomorrow'.
