Glad to see you back Shegar!

Isn't it nice to have her back - we've missed her :)

I hope our other friends who haven't posted lately are all right.

OH cut the hedge yesterday - he was knackered afterwards but at least it's done. The grass needs cutting too but that will have to wait until the weather cools down again.

Our DGS was meant to be playing in an orchestra of local primary school children yesterday at the Royal Festival Hall. They were all so excited, but sadly it had to be cancelled due to a burst water main as there was no water and no toilets available there :( I had a look at their website and it wasn't even mentioned, and was still saying the evening concert was on.

:hello: to Shegar It is lovely to see you back here.

Looks like a hot day here so taking things easy. Getting the bus into York this afternoon to see DD and posting a parcel for another dd while I am there. Will try to sort out her mobile phone as her sister treated her to a new sim card but it won't work with the phone she has. If the shop can't help I will buy her a new cheapish phone.

Feel like treating myself to a new summer dress for the hot weather if I can find one that reaches past my chubby knees ;) Se**n Se*s
capsules seem to be helping my knees and joints and I am planning on losing a few pounds. I had lost nearly three stone last August but when DH was undergoing hospital treatment etc I started eating more to keep him company while coaxing him to eat etc.

    Hugs to all

Elona/Ivyleaf and as others have said good to see Shegar is OK. I hope you're all coping and enjoying the heat. I don't know why I feel quite comfortable as the morning has gone on.

I have shorts/hats/leisure shirts and sun cream. I can avoid the shops, the fridge is packed with salads/vegetables and fruit. And a variety of drinks at hand. So far though 22c/72f in my bedroom I haven't even had to switch on the electric fan. The sun has moved to the front of the house. That must help and blinds and curtains drawn in those rooms.

So long since I visited York. Too long. I managed to lose weight but stuck around 11st. I used to be as low as 9st 7lbs and no more than 10st. When I was really struggling with my health issues I went nearer 13-14st. Lack of getting around under your own power and painful knees doesn't help you lose weight. Even if/when I get that mobility scooter I will still try and walk first.

I could not eat less than I do portion wise/calorific value is low too. I try to avoid painkillers when home but take them if I know its a day out.

I still eat what I think will help me(super foods)and take a fair few vitamins and minerals in a multi tablet and a few separate items too. I'm quite clued up on that score thankfully.

Burtha if you don't mind me tossing a few more suggestions into the mix Clatterbridge hospital on the Wirral is an excellent treatment centre for cancer and Walton hospital in Liverpool is the same regarding neurological illnesses. May I suggest that you give both of these places a call and ask them what they know? Also remember to ask people to be quite specific about what side effects you can expect from each treatment. Happy to put you up overnight if you decide to take a look round either of those places.

    Hi ,
Cranky40 ,thank you will have a look at there websites and see what I can find out from there,I have been doing a bit research over the last few nights and a lot of what the consultant has said makes even less since now ...nothing yet from Sheffield so will give that till the beginning of next week before I chase that up ,then think I plan to speak to them ,get some facts from them and take it from there ,if the facts don't add up will ring Newcastle Hosp and ask to speak to another consultant ...joy :wall:
Walked a few miles tonight with the two house dogs ,was cooler walking through the woods with them but both of them were sounding like steam trains on way back ,both found what water they could ,the little one ,my cocker spaniel lay down in every muddy puddle she would find ,the big dog (springer) just plodged through then ...so glad she is small enough to lift into the shower ...lovely black water coming off her ,...she is now clean and dry and curled up on my knee with a lovely smelling shiny coat:D
Work tomorrow and I really carnt be bothered lol ,coming down with a cold, last 2days i have had a sore throat and runny/ blocked nose ...allways manage to pick one up when I am stressed ...one of the joys of working in pharmacy is that at times you pick every bug up ,but on the plus side can pick up a cure any time :rotfl: ... sure I will fine in the morning

Right better unload the washer ,shame will have to wake the dog up ....

PS ... glad your OK Sheila x

The tablets I have been taking have omega 3, glucosamine and chondrotine and are one a three for two offer just now. I have also been rubbing a gel into my knees to reduce the pain and stiffness.

Ultimately I need to lose weight. I was shocked to find out that losing five pounds in weight meant 20 pounds less pressure on joints.

Funnily enough...I have kelp:pand glucosamine in the multi vit/mineral. I haven't tried chondrotine. I was given a gel for rubbing in/haven't tried it as yet. That was interesting about pressure on the joints.

23c/76f in my bedroom...think I'll open a window. Gardening in the morning, its nearly cleared/bagged that final area:DFound tree branches and tree limbs hidden amongst the grass I was removing. Concentrating on the back garden I've forgotten to water my flower tubs at the front and may've killed my flowers:(I've watered them in the hope that they recover and will add plant food. Needs a miracle.

In the morning a quick house tidy, the washing machine is ready to go. Then in the afternoon I may go somewhere peaceful and rest(take some refreshment and a quick sandwich)then see the mystery play in the evening. I am fortunate that I am able.

Colds? not nice at any time but in the sweltering temperatures of Summer:(Hope you feel well soon.

I think this is a day to do...er...not very much!

We had an urgent call yesterday from our son-in-law, asking us to collect DGS from after-school club because SIL's train from London was delayed The trains had to go more slowly than usual as the heat was affecting the rails. I suspect the same thing will happen today!

We bought a load of salad-y stuff yesterday - we have plenty of food in the freezer, but it's all for making hot meals and we couldn't face it :p Oh well, it will still be there when the weather cools down again.

I was able to wash the carpet runner from the hall yesterday. It's been such a bargain - we bought it at least 12 years ago from B & Q on a special offer, and it's been great because it can go in the washing machine. I've even tumble-dried it on a few occasions, but I don't think that does much for the rubber backing :o It usually takes quite a long time to dry on the line, but of course it didn't take long at all yesterday!
