CC: I've often said that there are days when you deserve a trumpet fanfare, bouquets of flowers thrown in your direction and a quick burst of the Hallelujah Chorus just for getting out of bed in the morning. You deserve a whole lot more than that. Hang on in there my love and you'll come through eventually. We are all cheering you from the sidelines here.
Pops: Your desciptions of your meals sound absolutely delicious. I do masses of cooking but I just know that if I lived on my own I would exist on cheese sandwiches.
Well I did do some ironing the other day and made a dent in the mountain. Well, not so much a dent as a tiny dimple so I'll have another go this afternoon. And for lunch today - TARRAR-TARRAR - spag bol. I got it ready yesterday but the Rev suddenly decided that we would go out for lunch and I didn't argue.
Love to all

Thankfully I feel a lot better today after using almost a full box of tissues yesterday looks like that stage was over quickly. Just extremely tired and a bit of a cough.
It felt like a weeks worth yesterday. DS says he had it last week when I was out for two days at both hospitals and then a conference in Manchester. He still feels very sleepy. That is normal for us two with a cold. We will have chicken with sweetcorn in the condensed soup today for dinner it is so easy.
I say I went to a conference in Manchester on Friday but I only managed half a day as someone jumped in front of a train, not mine, and it stopped the trains until 12.15pm so I did not arrive until 1pm.
Today we hopefully sort out the gas bill. I have not had one for 13 months. I finally managed to get OVO to come and read the meter on a day they would tell me they are coming. It is only a 7 hour window instead of some time in the indefinite future.
I think what has happened is some time in 2012 or 2013 the gas meter was changed and it was not registered with the authority it has to be registered with. Npower just ignored it instead of coming to find out the number and the reading. Hopefully I will get some money back from Npower because they will have to accept the readings I have given them. I even got to the stage of phoning them with a reading every day to be a nuisance but it did not make them sort it out.0 -
hello all, slowly creeping back on the forum, its absolutely freezing up north. Honestly full blown hailstones bouncing all over, dark skies and its may soon!!!
Thank you sheila for asking about us all, as ginny said we're all swamped with family stuff urrgghhh
But on the plus side we have seen major changes, all good i hope, so the future is slowly shaping. Can't wait to get properly out in the garden. It was gorgeous for about a week, kids outside playing footie, including, eldest son, yes you read right i managed to get my giant 14 yr old out the house :T:eek:
CC hope your feeling better soon and stones pass, my aunt had an operation for them to be removed. She was crippled then after surgery she described feeling light, airy and so much better. Instant relief.
Right i better get sorted, trying to get some sense of normality but i live in a chaotic mad house, so never going to happen, be fun though trying0 -
cc so nice to hear from you, you have had so much to cope with and now the gall stones which are horrible. Small steps, take all the time you need and more, and hopefully you will feel a little less eeugh after the op.
Kezlou lovely to hear from you too, hope the weather improves and you can get out into the garden soon.
Changeable weather here, dry today, alternating between bright sun and thick cloud. Not too warm either.
Still can't shake off the cough that's been doing the rounds, having a quiet sit down after work and thankful that it's a bank holiday weekend so I can get some rest.
Called in at Waitr@se yesterday with DD, she's been wanting some marguerites for the garden and they had some beautiful ones at 2 for £15 but also a 25 percent off all plants (including promotions) which brought total down to a tenner so a third of the price we had seen elsewhere. They will stay in large pots as they are only half hardy so can be protected over winter. I treated myself to a lovely perennial wallflower to fill a gap in the border. The offer is on until Monday if anyone is passing a local store.0 -
Mumilini in user CP, at the bottom of the left hand column, there is a tab called something like 'version choice', try that.0

Morning all,
Nice to hear from you, Kez. And you too, Ginny!
I'm sorry to hear of all of those with colds. OH is still suffering from his, it will be two weeks at the weekend. Although he gets them frequently he rarely seems to suffer more than a week.
My meeting yesterday was positive. I answered many questions I'd revised for well, and those I haven't revised for still need some work but that means my revision tactics are working. I need to work on a bit more detail, but that shouldn't be a problem. I'll beef up efforts next week and spend two good solid weeks revising and then the days before the exam I'll try to relax a bit.
Today, however, I'm taking most of the day off. The house needs a good going over--I let my chores slip yesterday and with OH being ill there are just little things not getting done. I've also got a couple of post office trips to make, one to collect the box from mum and the other to mail her something--different directions and today is a gym day. I've also got some paper work that needs doing. I may get a bit of revision done in the afternoon if I finish everything, but I think I'd rather get on top of things today so everything feels a bit calmer again.
Salmon Tacos for tea, and I need to figure out some sort of portable lunch for tomorrow. I think we have bread and tuna but will just check. I need to buy clothes for my exam. I've decided to go with something that will double as interview outfits...and should I be so lucky to pass, a graduation outfit as well. I'm looking at a suit, and if I can find suitable it will be dress and jacket for the exam. If there is a coordinating skirt I'll probably get that as well as it will do with the same jacket for conferences or second round interviews. I seem to have outgrown those I bought in my mid twenties, so I may look into selling them this summer. I've had good use out of them, but they're still in very good condition. Fortunately I've managed to build up a reasonable collection of work appropriate clothes in the CS, but I haven't managed the 'smart' outfit so will have to buy that new. We'll probably get a train somewhere as the best options aren't in stock in any Manchester shops. It seems many shops don't stock their suiting in brick and mortar stores. It seems a bit unfair to me as we don't expect men to buy suits without trying them on. I've done my research for likely options online as I don't like feeling I've got to spend money on something that isn't ideal.
Well, I've rambled quite enough for one morning. I guess it is nervous energy. Hugs to all who need them, and bit bowls of chicken soup to the poorlies.x0 -
p.s. Alfsmum The carrot and lentil soup sounds like something OH would like, do you have a recipe? The red pepper is one of my favorites, I tend to roast the peppers in batches when I find them on offer and can fill up the oven, then I freeze them in portions for the soup so it is quick to make.
Fortunately this is likely to be my last exam ever. There is always a chance they'll ask for revisions and I'll have to sit it again, but it is not a common outcome. I've sat so many exams in my life but I never seem to get used to them!0 -
Fairy princess - just a thought. Many years ago a stylist said that English women don't tend to split their suits. If you have a nice jacket or two how about toning dresses/skirts/trousers to give you more options? If your jacket is basic black/grey or navy you could team it with a dress that picks up the colour. I remember having a nice grey jacket that I teamed with a red & grey dress ( wore it for an interview & got the job!) May work out a bit cheaper for youSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Thanks Silvasava. A coordinating look was actually my first attempt to work with what I have but revealed a seasonal gap in my clothes. I've acquired some smart heavy tweed jackets and some smart linen jackets but I no longer fit into my year-rounder. Same with skirts. I'm actually hoping for three pieces in a light navy wool so I can fill in any gaps by splitting it. Plus it means I can mix it with cardigans/blouses and get away with only a carry on for international conferences, which will probably pay for the skirt in 2-3 trips.
This is one of those times where I'm glad my OH balances me out. Without him I'd probably spend weeks trying to come up with something and be as worried about the clothes as the exam whereas he pointed out that if there was ever a reason to buy the clothes this was it and pointed out it was better to spend a bit of time getting it right than to have to rush off and plug a gap with something less than right before a last minute interview. He is a good one, really although I may be saying differently if he says they all look the same tomorrow.:rotfl:0 -
With you on the wool Fairy - I bought a lovely 3 piece clerical grey suit, expensive at the time but oh did it pay for itself as it packed beautifully and any creases dropped out. I was able to team it with lots of other things too in fact its still in my wardrobe ...........what size are you????Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
